He's also never really been in a position with this much leverage. As much as some fans want to worry and handwring about this situation, the reality is we have Dame under contract for the length of his viable career. Cronin has already said that he'll work to accommodate Dame's request, but that doesn't mean he has to take the first offer he gets. Cronin works for the Blazers, not for Dame, and is very probably negotiating FOR HIS CAREER.
No incentive. You don't just give up money and you don't go back on agreements. I actually think Grant can be even better with Scoot running the show in a fast paced offense. I'm sure the organization promised to move him when the time is right.
Who gives a shit.... nobody is signing here anyway. Nobody asked to come here when Dame was happy. This is the biggest load of crap.
I think Grant would be better here now than before too. And hell, maybe they signed Grant because they wanted him here after Dame is gone. Who knows. We'll know more in February about what's going on right now.
How did that "leverage" workout when he traded CJ? How about Norm? He asked where they preferred to go and got almost nothing back for them. I expect better this time, but I don't think we're getting back a can't miss prospect. Just late 1st round prospects with draft picks.
Yeah, I should have increased the picks from them. I only had them at 4 because of the haul I was thinking from Houston, but taking out Houston would require at least one more pick.
Me neither. I guess we might see. I would love to say that we'll just have to wait and see but unless people air the laundry after this process is done we might never know. Shit even if people try to air the laundry after this we won't know for sure if they're telling the truth. The situation sucks. If Dame is forcing his way to Miami and in so doing, he's fucking over our team, that's not cool but I kind of understand why he might feel like it's OK. If he's already decided that Cronin had been lying to him for two years after Olshey had done the same for several he could have a certain mindset. If that's where Dame's head is at then I could see him doing what he can to get himself where he wants and not giving a fuck about where it leaves our team. I wouldn't be too mad at him for it because it seems like the logical reaction if he came to a realization that all of that loyalty he has shown was only going one way... and for me I don't want to hear about the money showing him loyalty... he has made this franchise more money than they've paid him you can bet on that. That shit was transactional but the stuff we're talking about is personal, it's about his legacy and our team's legacy.
Actually Simmons might be a closer billups type player then Dame. Simmons rebounds and he pushes the pace and he is good defender. If his mind is right then he pretty good player his one flaw in his game he is not going shoot the outside shot. The thing is I said that when he came out of college. But we actually got enough of those players that can shoot that shot to makeup for his short coming. I would welcome Simmons in a trade if he is healthy.
