Respectfully, I disagree. We need to show we speak as one voice as an organization. But, I do see your point. I think where I'm coming from is it seems that no one respects or believes Joe. He needs a bit of cover.
Think about your teammates and coaches. Heck, think about the Heat coaches and teammates your antics are delaying you from getting to. Agent malpractice. Actually, this has to be coming from Dame. I can't believe a veteran, proven agent would try this without his charge telling him to do it.
Breaking Newz: Damian Lillard threatening NBA that he will sit out unless they amend the record books to show that he has scored 50,000 points. "He deserves it, he's worked hard in his career" say his agent Aaron Goodwin of the Goodwin Syndicate. "He's about to lose his wife, so he should also have his salary doubled because she'll take half" pipes in beat reporter Chris Haynes.
I think the message is fine, but it needs to be delivered by Joe. Something to the effect that management and ownership are in full agreement that Dame is an elite player with great value to the Blazers. Only offers that reflect that position will be entertained.
Agent malpractice. Actually, this has to be coming from Dame. I can't believe a veteran, proven agent would try this without his charge telling him to do it.
I can, this is Goodwins chance to prove he's as much of a power broker as Klutch. I think he's trying to make moves for his name, and not considering what he is choosing his client.
That would essentially be like 6 first round draft picks. It might be better in the long run if the Blazers struggle a couple more years and collect more lotto picks. Perhaps package our firsts to trade up.
To me, this is showing the disrespect that they have for Joe. They think Joe is so bad that he will just take this punishment. They think they can bully him into a bad trade.
Another thought that just came to my head: They already got their money. An agent is only gonna do this if the client wants it. Meaning, the agent who is sending out this narrative is doing it on behalf of the player. Yes, that is obvious. But this isn't for money, the agent is already paid. Agents are there to get the best contracts for their client. I find it very odd he's working overtime for just a destination. Agents shouldn't care where their client goes as long as they get paid. All that to say, it makes it even more likely that Dame is running this narrative. It's all speculation, but there were days when Agents just needed to worry about the contract side of things, negotiating and such. I feel like I'm stupid and this is SOP now, but even if it is, it feels real odd how hard they are going after it. Lends me to think this is Dame really just steering the ship.
it doesnt, but im putting myself in a position of an athlete (bitches be throwing themselves at them)
In the long run we are all the same. There is no ownership, management without a fan base. These are symbiotic relationships. When players fight ownership/management it is always the fans taking it in the shorts via higher ticket prices, beers, jerseys, etc...
Why does it feel like Miami is only offering Herro, Robinson and a couple picks for Dame and telling us to figure out the Herro problem on our own?
I think that was the subtext to the Dame's camp saying that Portland isn't having as meaningful of a negotiation with Miami as they would like. I don't think they're eager to go shopping for a third wheel team to get a deal done that sucks for them anyway.
I have to rant a bit. 1. Dame is not going to sit out for 3 years. So call his bluff. Chris Webber wouldn't go to the Kings when GS traded him there, but he finally reported. He now says it was the best thing that ever happened to him. His number hangs in the rafters of Arco Arena. Trade Dame to wherever Joe wants and Dame will get over it when he get's his beloved "dollas." 2. Dame's crap about loyalty is just that. Well, strike that. He is loyal, and he's told us with his self-professed moniker what he is most loyal too: "Dame Dolla". 3. Way to ruin your brand in 36 hours, bullshitter. 4. This is an incredible opportunity to get a huge haul. Do it!! 5. Call me a fair weather fan but if it turned out my wife had been lying to me about loyalty for 11 years, and then went nuclear in the divorce, I owe her no more allegiance. 6. Fuck Damian Lillard.
They shouldn't have to imo, Dames agent or Riley should find partners to help with a decent trade offer. As much as I dont have a lot of faith in Cronin (figure head for Vulcans till team sells) slipped right in after Olshey his boss for numerous years, Joe shouldn't be the one working on this he should just review offers as they come in. He's got 3 months before trying camp starts.
What if you were the loyal one, and since she wanted a new direction and said she would treat you well in splitting the sheets, leading you on, then said she has a new mate opportunity thats way younger. Wouldn't you be pissed off?
