And the reason that happened was because time and time again the team failed to put substantial building blocks around Dame to help build a contender. I fully believe Dame was in it to win it.
When the trade comes thru i do not believe it will be one team involved. It could involve three and possibly four teams to make the trade for Dame. Multiple teams would be good for us in maximizing the value we get back.
I sure wouldn't want to move my family to Florida with 3 young kids going to school....also I wouldn't want to play games in front of the empty Heat arena...worst homecrowd there is.
Besides Grant they were really bad mistakes and possibly now with all of that money committed to him yesterday they might all be really bad mistakes. They definitely weren't all star level second best players that Dame needed. Most of them really didn't make much sense especially at the price point. Grant at his acquisition was the only one of those guys who was good value.
If Dame wants Miami and Miami wants Dame, then they better work their ass off to find a 3rd team in the deal. Miami’s assets are straight garbage. If they can’t, trade him to the Nets.
Yep, and getting a billion firsts from Brooklyn will feel pretty good as Jokic wins back to back titles and maybe three peats and beyond. Make no mistake, the League is in big trouble, Jokic is absolutely unstoppable and his game requires zero athleticism so barring a severe lower body or back injury, Denver is going to hoist a LOT of trophies, our guys will be peaking right as Jokic is finally slowing down in 5-7 years. I'm more worried about Wemby and SAS at this point. Also at least we are going to be losing with a GOD tier back court lighting up the scoreboard and being shown constantly on Sports center highlights (while losing). If we didn't have Sharpe I'd be deeply depressed but we do and Sharpe has a MUCH higher ceiling than Lillard.
He didn't ask for a trade when he had Roco, Nance, Powell. They got him Hart, Grant, and GP2 and traded two out of three of them for picks. Then he requested a trade.
Dame was his own undoing, and ours. In response to publicly giving the Blazers an ultimatum, opposing teams (and Grant's agent) asked for the moon, putting us in an untenable situation. What's sad is that I don't think he has the wherewithal to understand that.
Brooklyn — best and many picks + Claxton + Simmons … Nurkic into their TPE and … if possible … Grant for CamJohnson in dueling sign and trades. Less likely but would be hilarious … Dame for Scottie Barnes + Boucher + GTJ and his one year to a 3rd team + Gradey Dick and a 1st rounder just because. Dame gets his shot with Siakam, OG, Poeltl … Toronto loves it and may get a 2nd ring.
