Dame deserves the same respect he has shown this franchise. He has earned it. That does not infer a Championship. Most fans are drama driven. That in itself, has changed sports reporting...... into drama reporting. Most people read what they seek. They translate the info they see, into something more dramatic than the reality....most of the time. The enquirer magazine is a perfect example. They simply provide dramatic headlines, and fans of that drama take the info and run with it. ESPN has moved this direction every year since it's inception.
Uh....that is not what @Stevenson said at all. Guess it's not just my posts that get responded to attributing something they didn't come close to saying to their exact post just above the response.
Oh calm down. First of all, I'm going to make a bet that nobody in Sacramento is happy about their 16-year rebuild. Secondly, "special now" is basically over, and has been since 2020. Dame is starting to miss games, but he's too important to miss games because we can't win without him. Nurk can't stay healthy and we can't win without him. We are too many pieces away and we don't have the pieces in our possession to pay for what we need. Dame isn't going to lure a free agent here. We aren't going to get assets in a trade guaranteed to make us better. We don't have a coaching staff that can make the sum greater than its pieces. We don't have a front office able to work miracles. We will very likely not succeed if we build around special now. This is a very long shot that will leave us holding the bag on flabby has-beens and large salaries for years afterward if it collapses. I know it's cold, but I'd much rather see young players who are on their way up play than watch the plateau and decline of the rented veterans we gave up our young players for. We tried that in the past (Marcus Camby, Raymond Felton, Jamal Crawford)... Those are my least favorite teams. It's just personal preference; neither of us have 0.000% of a say in how this will go.
just who the hell around here said Dame was owed a championship? The title of the thread is a straw man what people have said, rightly, over and over, is that Dame has been owed a better performance by Portland's GM than he has received. That it's not unreasonable to expect the organization to make one honest effort to put a contender around him since it has NEVER done that. That his accomplishments and loyalty to the franchise deserve that one effort. And what exactly is the difference between "contender" and a "shot at a championship"...it's the same thing for fucksakes you can try and argue the semantics, but don't try and sell the bullshit about the Blazers owing Little as much as they owe Dame to me.
It's amusing how much foul language some people have to use to try to make a point. Expected better. Am learning that perhaps I shouldn't. And it still wasn't what @Stevenson said and I've learned from many responses that someone will post something and then someone will attribute something else that they didn't say at all. It's pretty lazy, but sadly, happening more and more.
