The vegan diet is excellent. I love it! All the animals I eat are vegans and I'm telling you they are delicious.
I went to a whole food plant based diet 3 months ago and I love how I feel. It's a work in progress for me because I use to mainly live on convenience food (frozen stuff and restaurants) so I've had to start learning to really cook. But I've found some really delicious recipes and have not missed the animal products at all... I'm to the point where they kind of gross me out a little. There's a lot of misinformation out there but you can easily get all the protein you need from plants. http://www.greatveganathletes.com/rich-roll-vegan-ultraman http://lightlife.com/what-plant-protein
I harvested my first Oregon figs from my orchard this year.....delicious! Cloned another 5 and they're looking good!
The best thing about a diet based on those high fiber "plant based proteins" is that you are your own walking heat source. Not so good for the global warming problem though.
I was a vegetarian for about 6 years in my 20s.....when I started traveling I stopped any food rules...tough to turn down home cooked meals on the road...and in some cultures, it's offensive to not sample grandma's curry shrimp or Szechuan chicken..eating local or fresh garden food is the key..
Thanks for this thread! It reminded me to pull a package of venison we cut and wrapped last weekend from the freezer for supper tomorrow.
