You'd think down 40 you wouldn't risk it either.... 2020 is a bullshit year. True story, and a true aside: Back in 199something, I was working in a fileroom. I had been up for over 48 hours for whatever reason and feeling mighty funny. Back in the files I put one away, and as I stared at the numbers, I heard a voice distinctly say: "That is the year you are going to die." I freaked and looked all around and no one else was there. I called my wife (at the time) and told her the story. "What year?!?" she asked. And I'd forgotten. I'm starting to think it was 2020.
The thing about Dame's injury is that it's not a recurring, degenerative, once in a generation situation like Roy's. The other thing about Dame's injury is that it definitely wasn't catastrophic because you don't play another two minutes on those. I'll be really surprised if it's a complete tear or rupture of anything but I wouldn't be surprised if it is something that needs arthroscopic surgery and a lot of rehab which would suck for Dame. I'm hoping it's just a sprain, bone contusion or pinched meniscus because all of those hurt really bad but go away with treatment and rest. Regardless of what it is I would be angry if the team lets him come back for game five.
An ACL sprain is a type of tear. All ACL injuries can be called sprains or tears. If he has a "tear," that doesn't mean he's out for a year, it depends on the level of the tear. There's three grades, varying in severity. Grade 1 is minor damage and is what people often call a "sprain" (though all the grades involve some tearing)...the knee is still stable and you just need to rest it for a while. Grade 2 is a partial tear and probably means being out for a few months, but surgery may not be required. Grade 3 is a complete tear and the ligament is in two pieces, which requires surgery and is what puts someone out for a year. So the fact that someone's friend had an "ACL tear" and still played on it probably means he just had a grade 1. If Lillard likewise has a grade 1 tear, it means he's done for this series but there's little to worry about. Grade 2 tears are pretty rare but would also not put next season in jeopardy. It's only if it was a grade 3 tear that he'll miss next season but, if it was a grade 3 tear, he wouldn't have been able to keep playing on it--his knee would have been completely unstable and he couldn't walk properly, let alone run or jump.

Best news possible. Forfeit game 5 go home with no more injuries. Then start making changes that include everyone not named Dame and rebuild.
Yes. Thank lord. I was hoping and thinking it was a sprain....Rest up Dame!!! And get this man a proper team. Jesus christ, 36 year old melo can not be starting 35+ minutes.
Yeah, I'm not a doctor but I've had 4 knee surgeries and several MRIs so when it came back inconclusive, that's a sign that nothing big was broken, torn or ruptured. Glad to see it shouldn't impact Dame in the future.
