It was made clear to Dame and the rest of us that the selection process is rigged when "injured and can't shoot, but I have a connection to the coaches" Rose made it in. Dame wouldn't get selected again this time, so it's a waste of time. Good for him for focusing on what matters and not on what doesn't.
While I want him to be heralded I can blame him for not going. It's a political thing. Besides, the team he plays for has as much to do with him not being selected as anything. Just kidding.... no I'm not.... no really, or am I?
Agree he's not going because of being cut over guys he outplayed. How does Rudy Gay get added to the team at the 11th hour after cutting players at his position? They treated Dame and others as scrub training camp practice fodder instead of having a fair chance to make the team. If team USA guarantees him a spot I bet he goes but no reason for him to subject himself to another unfair try out process. I have zero concerns of wear and team since it's a 12 player deep roster. It's a way to improve skills and possibly get a leg up on recruiting a future teammate to Portland. Much different than Nico or other countries players where they are overburdened with big minutes.
I like Dame and believe he is right to feel hurt about being cut last season. However, he needs to keep these types of thoughts to himself. Fans around the league are playing Dame’s quote as more baby crying. Dame is giving the knuckle-heads more ammunition, which is killing his public image. This is the third time he has publicly whined. Dame is turning his image into a bottle of Johnson's baby shampoo. Dame needs to keep quit, or better, have a more diplomatic quote ready. He needs to be tutored by Neal Olshey on how to put a positive spin on adverse situations.
Yeah I kind of agree, reminds me of his letter after missing the allstar team. Probably best to take the high road. At the same time I like the competitiveness of proving doubters wrong. I like that Dame puts himself out there both good and bad. Jordan would find motivation anywhere he could even when considered the greatest basketball player ever.
He was asked a question. He simply answered it. It's not like he brought it up himself and made it a story on his own..
Not sure what your point is. Dame is killing his own public image by what he says, not by the questions the reporters are asking. As long as Dame keeps feeding the reporters juicy baby talk, they are going to go after him for more of these types of immature answers. And his public image will continue to be tarnished.
Ha! You just haven't noticed the range of Europeans, the round nosed Slav's, the pointy nose Austrians, or the hook nosed Azerbaijan's. Are there any pointy nosed Black Africans or Asians?
Geez, I don't know fisherman. Don't you think his shooting this past year is more than noticeable? I mean .116 with the three ball and a lot of them in the playoff and about the same the last half the past season. Do you think that would escape the notice of coach K or his replacement? But then you are right, Dame needs to walk, not talk.
Here are just a few quotes from fans around the league. There are a ton of responses like this, but this should give everyone an idea of the image Dame is creating around the league.
Fans of other teams trying to tear down portland players? Say it ain't so? Smells like jealousy and fear.
Who cares about fans of other teams that do all they can to tear down any star thats not on their team? If the media gives this quote more play then his involvement in the special olympics then fuck the media as well because there agenda is just to tear him down no matter what
I was being facetious, I have been to all of the countries in the UK, to Czech, Serbia, Austria, Hungary, and Spain. I am pretty familiar with different euro ethnicities and their genetic dispositions. As for your comments on the other races, I have dated plenty of Asian women and the current one I am dating actually has a fairly pointy nose she's Taiwanese to be specific. It's rare but it definitely exists I can tell you with certainty. Edit: I should mention, she's is not from Coos Bay.
As for Lollards quote, it's quite disappointing but maybe he's so used to being skipped and snubbed that this will just drive his motivation higher and this is his way of channeling it?
No, the worst response he could have given would be "I want to play international basketball." I'm stoked he doesn't.
