I was at IKEA on Sunday.

    95% white
    5% middle eastern.
    0% black.

    It was eerie.

I think I've told this story before, but entire family visited Oregon a couple of years ago after being here for 10 years. As we left the airport, my 15 year old son nudged me and said "8"

    I'm like 8 what?

Black people. There are no black people here. What's up with that?

I said ya, Portland isn't very diverse.

He said Dad, there's not very diverse and then there is 8 black people in the airport

Think we our bad, go north to BC, Alberta, Sask, Manitoba,
I once had an associate form Atlanta travel those Provinces and was taken back that there were practically no blacks. He was black.
It's the whole Northwestern US and Canada... SAD

    multiple massive endorsement deals[/fify]

Dame has whats available beyond contracts in this market cornered for the foreseeable future. The bigger power players have zero interest in Portland winning as most of the country doesn't have any tie in to the NW, so PDX will never ever receive favorable treatment from the league/officials. Agents know these facts and they tell their clients whats what. Portland's GM has to pull rabbits for them to succeed.

I grew up in Portland, I spent a lot of time in Portland and I loved working there at times, but the culture itself was so weird... It was “inclusive” and they preached, “diversity”, but I ran into the most bigoted, and hateful people Ive ever encountered in my life there. Of every major city Ive spent time in, Ive always felt Portland was an acquired taste, it can be an awesome place to live, but I can definitely understand why a wealthy athlete who has a choice would choose somewhere else. Those who fall in love with Portland, love it.

Anyways, very glad that Dame loves Portland and is sticking around and happy. He’s great both off and on the court.

In part, the sections of North America you're referring to have few African Americans because there is no history of slavery that established large populations. People of all races tend to settle closer to where they were raised & where their friends & families live then not. People also tend to settle in climates similar to where their ancestors lived, which is why the Scandinavian immigrants largely settled in the Northerly sections of North America. Not SAD.

Because that's the truth. People self segregate.

I think this is absolutely true. I think it's human nature to want to be with people who look like you, talk like you and think like you
