Sharpe was doing just that against GSW. Slashing and cutting off ball. its how he got the stats he got. Some of his baskets were following the ball to have it dished to him, or slashing to the hole for an alleyoop, etc. Why our SG’s dont run circles off the ball, blows my mind. Watch GSW run a set. Ever player moves and most touch the ball. I hope Billups figures this out quickly.
I'm not sure Sharpe is quite ready to be a starter for a good team yet. No need to put that pressure on him unless he just absolutely blows up as a reserve and proves he can handle it, IMO. Start off getting him 12-15min as the backup 2 and go from there.
Trade Dame to Toronto for Siakam and filler. We get balanced out, better defensively and younger at the same time.
I dont disagree one bit except id like him to be closer to 20 minutes out the gate, but i know thats tough with this roster. but i fully believe he will blow up as you describe and by seasons end, as we are on the road for the first round, he will be our starting 2 and the second best player on the team. Bold i know. Stick a needle in this and revisit to bow down or feed me crow.
I wouldn't be at all surprised. Just trying not to put too much on him until he shows he's up to the NBA season.
Agree on Ant coming off the bench. With GP2 still 2-4 weeks from being at his best, it makes sense to go with a 3-guard rotation. Start Hart at SG, and play Little and Winslow at SF. It is a long season and Keon and SS will have time to break into the rotation.
Ant coming off the bench to roast the 2nd units sounds good in theory but no way is he coming off the bench. If the Dame/Ant backcourt doesn’t work out, I just hope the front office doesn’t sit on there hands waiting for the backcourt to blow up like they did with Dame/CJ.
Actually, he really would not be playing against other benches. In theory, he would still get 30+ minutes in a 3-guard rotation. Having said that I guess it really makes no difference which one starts as long as all three are slotted for the backcourt. Chauncey can always decide to end games with those three together on the court...... if the matchups dictate it.
If you're just being logical and you can still get superstar value for Dame even after his extension then you trade Dame but we're not Vulcans even though that's the name of our team's parent company. We're human beings and Dame means something to us and to the city and to the people making the decisions. Dame means a lot more to most of us than Ant. So, if there is good value out there for Ant and I'm pretty sure after the show he put on last season there would be, you trade Ant if the two don't complement each other on both ends of the court. Get the best piece that fits that you can for Ant or use him with others to consolidate talent because we're not robots and Dame means a lot.
Dame....no contest I'd trade Ant at the deadline as we stand and I never want to trade Dame. Doubt this will happen though.
It’s not about overreacting. Simons is a starting PG in this league not a sidekick SG. And Sharpe needs to start. I don’t need to see 3 games to have this opinion.
If we trade Dame for Otis Thorpe or SAR/Ratliff I'll be pissed. I won't be pissed if Dame wins a ring
I've moved on from believing there is any realistic chance Dame can win a ring here. The franchise is just too far away and he is too old. Maybe Sharpe could be part of a team contending here in some far off day, he has enough future years for this franchise to change dramatically. I care more about increasing the chance players like Sharpe could win a ring here than preventing Dame from winning one elsewhere. If Dame leaving can help the Blazers increase that chance at a title 7-10 years from now; then I'm all for it.
