I mean what is the front office supposed to do if the trade offers are awful? I would still make the pick and then if the during draft or post draft offers are still awful, live with the consequences. Don’t sell the pick in a trade you don’t like just to appease Dame. Trust that he will understand what offers you got and that a trade could present itself later. My two cents. It seems like teams are trying to low ball Portland and I don’t want to take a low ball offer just to appease Dame.
I agree with this completely. I've been saying that if teams aren't giving you what you think the pick is worth there is always the nuclear option of blowing the existing team up for a youth rebuild around pick 3 and Shaedon. I don't think threading the needle or more accurately splitting the baby is a good option or due to what Dame has said, an option at all.
Yeah, until proven otherwise I think all of this is leaked to the media as a smoke screen to improve our position during ongoing negotiations in trades for pick 3/Scoot. That's just my gut feeling. I do not think that teaming up Dame, Scoot and Shaedon as your three most valuable players (as far as trade value goes) would be at all wise. We'll see what happens.
