As long as the contract is reasonable, I’m sure there would be a ton of teams that would love to have him.
Yeah I think Jerami can find a team that wants him and doesn't have the cap space to sign him but does have some assets that would be valuable to us and some contracts that would expire after the upcoming season.
Hmm... Portland got him for pretty cheap, which was great. It also seems to indicate that not many teams valued him when he was with the Pistons and available. I don't know why he'd be worth more than he was then, given he's been injured and isn't getting any younger. That's not to say it makes sense to let him walk, but definitely if we overpay him it would be a mistake on a variety of fronts.
I think the Blazers would prefer to keep Dame and to help him win. I'd suspect ultimately most likely one of a Zion Bridges Brown Siakam type trade happens. I just hope we don't overpay. But if none of those are available, I do think Blazers just pick BPA. I'd think Blazers will prefer Dame stays, but it's about 50/50 Dame pushes for a trade in the keeping the pick scenario IMO. So that's maybe 40% we don't do a #3 trade, and 50% Dame gets traded in that case. So 80% chance Dame is here. Very real chance he is traded but most likely he is not. We will potentially learn a lot more Thursday.
Agreed, PDX is trying to bring someone in to play with Dame, those negotiations go up to the minute of the draft pick. There's not enough time to pivot to trade Dame negotiations. Only way I could see a 2023 pick involved is if lets say it's with Houston whom both us and them are high on Amen at #4, and eventually he gets sent out into a 3 way Dame package. That would be more similar to Kevin Love Andrew Wiggins trade. But there's no way we have a Dame trade involving picks in the teens or 20s. Dame trade is too far away right now and teams have too many different directions they would go at those points of the draft.
As Wiz said, no this trade won't happen with Dame for 2023 draft picks. Ayton doesn't make sense if the Blazers are rebuilding, it would be better to get Ben Simmons junk salary but an extra draft pick.
This is cool and all but just last year on July 1 a full week after the draft Rudy Gobert was traded to the Wolves for a package that included the rights to the Wolves 2022 FRP Walker Kessler. I doubt we get 2023 FRPs for Dame in a trade but it is definitely not impossible. I don't want Dame traded, I want us to build a winner around him but if we're not doing that we should cash him in and one of the teams he said he would be cool with is the Nets who have two first round picks in this draft and if we did trade Dame there, agree to it between the draft and free agency and then execute it on July 10 then I would think it would make sense to include future draft picks and the rights to any player they draft in this draft that we are interested in.
I'm not trying to be rude but I don't think that makes any sense. If the media is just reporting bullshit then that would actually make Dame solidify his position because he hates being misrepresented. I would think that with what Dame said last time we heard him talk that there is probably some real validity to what Windy is saying.
so...he's saying the same thing that was "reported" 8 weeks ago and trying to pretend he talked to people in the know...so it's new reporting of old information....ok, got it
I know, right? Makes you understand why players sometimes turn on the media. It’s like they can’t unlearn narratives once they’ve started with one. Just think how long that GP2 stuff lasted (without apologies).
Sounds like he's saying that he reconfirmed that what we last heard Dame say is still what's being said behind closed doors. These guys don't make shit up. When they say something is new information they have more than one new source. That doesn't mean they can't be wrong because Dame's cousin and one of his old teammates could have given Windy what you are saying, a regurgitation of old info but the guy that has broken as many stories as Windy does not say something is new info without new sources.
Anything can happen, but I am a real person that doesn’t get paid to bs or ring every possible segment out of one quote, and i have a real life friend who actually knows someone in Dame’s family, who says Dame has zero intention of leaving Portland.
The tone is also more alarmist here compared to his podcast even if the message is the same. I think First Take encourages the drama.
