I don't see the logic for assuming there is no way he asks for a trade.

absolutely not to the notion of Portland getting Tobias Harris for trading Dame.

instead, force Philly to trade Simmons to a team that WILL send out lottery picks and has space to absorb a lot of Simmons salary

I'd be slightly ok with Portland collecting some young players, draft picks, and cap relief. But only if the Blazers were trading CJ, RoCo, Powell, Nurkic and any other player over 24...for more young players and picks

fuck the idea of trading Dame and building around something like CJ and Harris. That's a worse level of dumbass mediocrity than they have now.

I agree. There is absolutely no point in taking on Harris's contract to play with a young rebuild unit. But this discussion is moot....at least for now.

I agree, if you're saying there's no way he demands a trade right now. If he demands a trade I think the earliest it will be is with enough time to get himself traded by the deadline.

I think if Dame wanted out tomorrow, the move to make would be a version of a trade that the Pelicans supposedly offered or a NOLA sportswriter suggested. Ingram, Hayes and picks for Dame. Ingram has been an all star and is a great scorer at all levels with a lot of size. Hayes is a three and D post. I think at that point trading CJ and RoCo plus some of the picks we get from NOLA for Simmons would be a good move. You get the best young player/picks available for Nurk. Obviously trading Norm wouldn't be an option immediately but you'd feature him until we could trade him and get the best young value for him that you can.

I like Ingram a lot and Hayes is talented. Is he the one that just got in trouble?

He's a man of his word and views his extended contract as such. He's only 31 and when his contract is up and he wants new horizons, maybe he decides to leave. But maybe, he decides on a Super Max here in Portland too?

With training, nutrition, and smarts, players can play into their 40's and be productive. 70's & 80's were the golden age of Sex, Drug's, and Rock & Roll in Pro Sports. Not saying there aren't athletes today that live that fast lifestyle, but there are way more players today, that watch how they do things, and center their lives around Family & Business. So they are able to extend their careers.

He is. It sounds like he resisted arrest and they threw assaulting an officer at him but he'll have good lawyers that will get the charges down to misdemeanors if they stick at all. Right now the LAPD is investigating the situation for use of force. The body cam footage will be interesting. This is his friend's footage.

I think because of how the cops handled it and how high profile it is... unless he actually punched an officer multiple times... both parties will want to plead this thing out and make it go away. Unless, Hayes just wants to go after the LAPD.

Any way that I look at this, it wouldn't keep me from wanting him unless he did go absolutely wild on the officer and even then I believe in second chances. I also can't find any other issues with him before but if there were, this might be a little troubling.

That deal as constructed would give us a young bench of Ant, Little, Tillman, Thybulle, Moody, Kuminga, Pons and Brown, all behind a credibly solid starting lineup of CJ/Norm/RoCo/Harris/Nurk. If a couple of the youngsters pop, you've got a shot at a contender. If not, CJ likely at least rebuilds/improves his trade value, and that whole starting lineup can be sold off at the deadline.

I don't care about the good parts of the trade when I hate the bad parts. And the good parts are the young bench, not the starting lineup. I won't watch CJ lead the league in dribbling and FGA's. Fuck that

and I don't know what reason there is to expect Olshey to build a contender around CJ & Harris when he couldn't around Dame and CJ. Pie meet sky
