Fuck that. I'm already on the fence with just how poorly the league is run and the idiotic pandering to China. If we trade Dame, I will straight up never watch another basketball game again for as long as I live. I've taken to Bareknuckle Boxing and MMA sports instead anyways.
Sorry, but if Dame is traded, I'll become a Free Agent Fan. I will not go through the agony of watching Olshey try his hand at rebuilding this shit.
Im seeing the writing on the wall. I think Damian requests a trade. Its going to be a very long time before we see a star like him again in Portland. I say trade for as many first round picks as we can an completely blow it up. Sad to see it go down like this. I am still upset we didn't fire Stotts after that pelican sweep. It really looks like Oshley and Jody dropped the ball here. I had no idea about Builliups's past but it seems like Portland fans directing disgust and this much hatred towards Damian of all people was really really stupid and they can partially be blamed for this happening.
If you don't there is a huge amount of reason to be concerned about him leaving then you are living in denial. I wasn't looking into that much until I hear what Haynes said he is the reporter Lillard goes to.
My bad - I totally misinterpreted this: I thought you meant you that for you to stay a Blazers fan they have to leave Portland (because of the "woke" fans). Now I don't know WHAT you meant.
That is something, isn’t it? The same people who are calling Billups a rapist even though he was investigated by detectives from both the cops and DA office seemingly have no problem with the NBA bending over backward to China while they are oppressing Hong Kong and also imprisoning Uyghur Muslims in slave labor “re-education” camps. Camps where they are forced to make cheap solar panels to sell to energy-conscious westerners mainly in the USA. Cognitive dissonance is a hell of a thing. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-china-57124636.amp China uses Uyghur forced labour to make solar panels, says report 14 May 2021
Wow, whataboutism really is your thing, isn't it? "You say X is bad? Well Y is bad too - wanna say something about that first? Or maybe you should just admit we live in a nihilistic hellscape and I get to like whatever I damn well want!"
Right now it's stupid even think wanting out right now due to he going at least give Billups a chance to see can make us better. If not next year might different story but this there know way he would demand a trade.
I think this is right. Dame is under contract until 2025, with a player’s option in 2024. With his long record of saying he wants to win here, how is he going to say he wants out now after Olshey gets him the coach he endorsed, and where is the Blazers’ incentive to go along with him if he does ask for a trade? If I’m Olshey I’d be telling Dame that changes are coming, give us a year under Billups to prove it, and if we can’t perform we’ll work out a trade to a contender before your option year.
I am not so convinced he won't ask for a trade. This is turning into a mess and why would dame want all the hate? Neil didn't look out for dame here. A gm has to be cogent of all the factors in play. Who dame wants as coach is but one factor. If Neil had picked someone else, no hate is directed at dame. Now in some eyes, dame is a misogynist. Next they will go after dame's relationship with hip hop figures that have misogynistic lyrics. Mark my words. Neil is very short sighted, lacks real wisdom.
Aside from canning Neil, that has to be the path forward. I was pleasantly surprised that they moved forward and announced Chauncey signing yesterday, amidst everything. Tells me this is the line of thinking they're operating on. Which, frankly, is a little surprising, but pleasantly so. Chauncey likely won't be able to say anything about what happened because it's probably under NDA, but hopefully he can do other things to show the fanbase that he's a good person, etc., etc.
I am curious what the investigation into his case brought up, as well as the Clippers and Cavs probes. Billups may be under an NDA, but there were other parties involved that would not be. His teammates, witnesses, the Boston police etc.
Bye!!! The fuck.. you can leave even if he stays. This dude I swear to god always talks like some type of superstar. Weak ass MFer
Definitely curious. I'm not a PR genius, but I would guess, short of being able to present an iron-clad case that CB is fully innocent of the accusation, it's probably best left untouched. The nature of this situation, where everything and nothing happened in peoples' heads, means that it will just continue to burn if you give it oxygen (in my mind). That said, would definitely love to know how deep they went in their diligence.
It would be such a clusterfuck if Olshey's coach choice led to Dame bailing on Portland. Honestly, I doubt it happens though. It's the entitled superstar era, and Dame is just pushing the pendulum back the opposite direction. There's a minor witch hunt out for Billups, but my guess he's expecting a much more massive blowback against the people complaining because nobody wants Dame to leave. That said, superstars force their way out all the time in the modern NBA. Portland isn't immune.
No hate should have been directed at him in the first place. There are always going to be stupid people saying stupid shit. We see it every day in sports and in politics. It is exhausting. If some complete moron somehow equates Dame with being misogynist because he likes a person who might have done something wrong 24 years ago, you just got to ignore it and stay the course. IMO Neil did pick the perfect coach for Dame. Picking the wrong coach for Dame's skill set would have been the far worse strategy if the goal is to win in the near future.
