Can any future Blazer star PLEASE not say, "I want to be the Best Blazer Ever." That has not ended well the last two times anything like that has been used here.
Dame is , to me. It sure would have been nice to have a GM who took a risk and went all in. We will never know now. It will just be a "what if".
Dame is the greatest Blazer for me, but not the best. Best Blazer was Walton. Different things. Walton was an all NBA force on both sides of the floor and won the greatest battle as a Blazer, but he was not here long. Frankly, if you had to build a team around a single player from scratch would you choose Dame at his best or Walton at his best? I would choose Walton. That's why he was the best. But, longevity and total games played is why Dame is the greatest, so far.
I would say Dame might be the best scorer in Blazers history, but he is so far behind Bill and Clyde for team success, not sure he can be considered the greatest player. If he had finished his career here maybe, but now just the greatest scorer. Now Clyde and Bill had better teams around them, but they should be be downgraded just because they had better teammates, when they led their teams to more success.
A month ago, Dame was my favorite Blazer all-time. Now, he's one of my least favorite Blazers of all time. When he retires, I'm hopeful that he reclaims my favorite status, but Sharpe is pretty effing awesome.
