...one million percent worth it -- because if it fails, then there are still plenty of assets left for total blow-up rebuild. Getting back potential lost draft capital for those assets shouldn't be too difficult
Dame/Powell/Nas/Simmons/Turner This makes us incredibly switchy and instantly improves our defense to potentially top 10 in the league. Add Ant as our offensive go-to guy off the bench and a super 7th man in Nance who could also start for Nas in some matchups, I think we'd be so much more balanced.
Given that the Blazers have to shed salary to avoid paying tax, I have a feeling Nurk and RoCo are more likely to leave as FAs than in trade.
I have a sneaking suspicion that KD and Kawhi were valued that highly after injuries because of their proven playoff track record. Dame is in a slightly different category, being the final piece teams hope to add for a championship run. I don't think anyone goes all-in on him as a building block at this stage of his career.
I just can't see Philly including Curry as filler in a Simmons deal. 16/3/3 while shooting 42 percent from 3. I'm still all in on Simmons. I think if it went south and Dame wanted out Simmons is still only 26 at the beginning of next season. That's still young enough to retool around.
the premise and my response was that dame would not bring back picks in return because of his ab injury. i provided enough qualifiers in my post about dame obviously not being at kd/kawhi's level.
ya it would be green, not seth as a filler. i just want to get rid of our FAs for some value before they potentially walk this summer. that's why i keep throwing roco/nurk in these ideas.
i'd do that roco trade over nas, but I want thybulle back in return as the filler. we'd duck the tax completely if it was thybulle instead of green/curry. jesus, the defense only lineup with simmons/nas/thybulle/nance/nurk would give me so much hope. too much dreaming this morning.
Yeah, a CJ/Roco for Simmons/Green is basically dead on $$ wise. I can see a follow up trade with Nurk, but wonder if that big of a shakeup alarms Dame? Would love Turner, but struggle to find a reason for Indy to move him to us.
if this is all it took to get simmons and wood, the deals would already have been done. also recall, a precursor to any of these moves involving picks would have to involve changing protections on the pick we sent to CHI.
not you man. The other guy who made another thread while yours was still at the top. You hit it first. You get the thread.
I like Nance but I joked at the time that the Nance acquisition would be the type of deal for Olshey to form his summer around and say he did great. Now that 1st round pick means we don't actually have our entire warchest and Nance hasn't solved any of the key issues of this team.
it'll be interesting to see what chicago will take to make those changes. but if nance was getting 25+ mins and a consistent role, I think his play would justify that move completely. i'm slightly annoyed by how patient chauncey has been with a completely unproductive roco.
Dude, if we could get Simmons and Thybulle for CJ and Roco, I'd trade those picks and swaps all day easy
