I do like me some CJ. Not knowing how ready Wes is going to be in November, having all three is a nice problem to have. At least until the trade deadline. Wes and Arron can play some backup SF in some situations, while CJ may be able to play some point. If we knew Wes was going to be 100%, Afflalo would be a nice summertime trade chip.
He has a player option. Before he came here I would have been 100% certain he would opt out. Now? Not so much. I don't want to be straddled to his 8 million dollar contract if we already have CJ and are looking to resign Wes. If they resign LaMarcus/RoLo, and pick up Kaman's option that's a lot of guaranteed money on the books and you would be pushing the lux tax pretty hard. Regardless of what happens this offseason, the only free agent I 100% want back is Wes. It's hard to find personalities like that, and whether we field a winning or losing team next year, Wes is the type of guy that cultivates a winning culture. He's invaluable for more than just his on court contributions. If they decide to let Wes go because of Afflalo I will be royally pissed off.
Neither of these guys are leaving their teams, RFAs or not. If Chicago/SA gave these guys a max, they are staying.
