<div class="quote_poster">Quoting cwillgrizz41:</div><div class="quote_post">Awesome post by both..... Yes it's true that West was after both Pietrus and Dunleavy during their drafts but both went before our pick. Like custodianrules2 said I believe it all has to do with the situation the players are put in. I'm not sure that someone like Pietrus could all of a sudden blossum as say Posey did ( I know there is a talent difference but just saying in perspective).I think the warriors players do have the potential they are just inexperienced so thats why I would rate the grizz's 2-3s better now, but in a few years who knows.
Also, I think the 10 man rotation can really wear down teams but I'm not sure how much longer we are going use it. Depending on what we have to give up to get a center will be the deciding factor on that. Their is a lot of talk of us loosing Bonzi or Battier. Thus, freeing up time for Posey, Miller. But If the players are ok with the 10 man rotation I think go for it because we have so much depth in every position, but I do think Gasol and Posey have to get their time because they are our stars.
So are people really thinking so highly of Pietrus. I haven't seen to much of him but the way you describe his game it sounds like he could be another Posey like player.</div>
Thanks! I guess I can describe Pietrus' understanding of the nba style of game as a little bit raw and his shot selection is kind of wild, but he's a tremendous athlete with long arms, fast feet and hands, and some great hops. He's so quick that he can guard nba point guards (We use him to guard Dunleavy's man when Dunleavy is playing point guard). Pietrus' all around defensive game needs to be polished, but his on-the-ball pressure defense is awesome and he isn't afraid to be physical and aggressive (which is why he gets the Ron Artest mixed with Ricky Davis athleticism comparrisons). His style of defense is very aggressive and his lateral movement denies a lot of players from getting by him or getting a clean shot off. Off the ball defense he needs to improve on like getting around screens, having more court awareness and trolling the passing lanes for easy steals. Defensively he's already real stud that can get inside people's heads. Offensively, this guy is kind of wild but can nail the 3 or take it to the hole for a slam dunk but has no intermediate range jump shot. His ballhandling skills are underrated (They say he wasn't good, but he was able to take some people on the drive and split defenders) and I think it's because his decision making is the biggest problem and not his skillset. They originally said he's a clone of Jason Richardson only with defense, but he's not as great of a leaper, but he is more quick and agile though. I guess they meant that Pietrus' game needs to polished in the same manner Jrich started out (shooting 3's or going for the dunk, no midrange game).
