I heard Antoine Walker to Philly Josh Howard, Glenn Robinson, Greg Buckner to the W's Damp and ? (Esch) to Dallas
Where did you hear that, Mister Jennings? And why Buckner's long contract? We've got Pietrus for defense.
I'd still rather ship Damp to the East, but Howard is young, athletic, and cap friendly, and moving Esch's contract would be a great move. That's the last of the "legacy" bad contracts. It seems like a great trade for Dallas, really salvages their off-season. Don't know why Philly wants this deal, but maybe that's why I'm not a GM.
That wouldn't be a bad trade since we need a scorer off the bench and Big Dog could fulfill that, plus Josh Howard is a pretty good defender when we need size at small forward. In fact I like it Also if Glenn Robinson is being a punk we can always just waive him trade him immediately for teams looking to get rid of salary.
I suppose I'd take that deal. The only problem is that Robinson won't get much playing time and I could see him becoming a huge distraction. The only thing you could hope for is that he realizes he's playing in a contract year and needs to be on his best behavior.
I guess I never thought of Robinson becoming a distraction. I think he should start personally. Let the best player earn the starting role. There is no reason why Dunleavy should automatically start, especially if someone is better than him at the position.
No way, Dunleavy is fragile as we all saw with Muss last year, he is the future he needs to start, and he works way better with the first team than Big Dog. Big Dog would be perfect off the bench as the number 1 scorer on the second team and that's all he needs to do (that's all he can do)
Agreed. The Warriors need to build for the future, and that means playing the young guys. They might make the playoffs by playing the vets, but the goal is to win a championship, and Big Dog will be long gone by the time this team is ready for that. This team has chased short term fixes way too many times. Stick to the plan. Draft and develop good players, find the money to keep them, add a missing piece through trades or free agency. They have aquired some good young players, and a lot of expiring salaries. I'd hate to screw this up now. In fact, I'd prefer a lottery pick to the eighth spot and getting whupped by San Antonio.
If we are going to commit to playing younger players just in spite of developing them, then why dont we start Petrius over Jrich or Dunleavy? Who says Dunleavy is part of our future? What if he sucks? Do we still keep him? I say make him earn his stripes, pay his dues, and if he proves himself worthy, he will be far better off that way then getting the starting spot as a gift that he can take for granted. Put up or shut up. That is what I think. I think Petrius should start over Dunleavy at this point.
Rudeezy's probably going to argue with you Warriorfansnc93. hehe. The 20/20 game he had, the fact not many 6'10" players that can handle the rock or pass the ball well. His shot is streaky but I remember he killed some teams in the beginning of the season with his shooting (this was when Jrich was suspended by the league for 3 games because of fighting with his ex girlfriend). He had actually got to demonstrate his solid shooting with 11/18 from the field for 32 points. But then he went back to his normal self with some sub 40% and high 30% shooting. I remember one game he shot 4/18 or something. Blech time to demonstrate those passing skills, Mike. My biggest gripe about him is defense. It's Mike Unleavy Jr. No D at all.
I don't want Damp to go the Mavs, send him off to the Eastern Conference so he is a non factor for a Western Conference playoff team.

I don't buy that. Dampier is a good Center and he will be out on a mission next year where ever he goes. He wants to prove that he is not just a contract year player and he wants to be in the All-Star game. He will have an impact year next year and could make Dallas an instant playoff team(IMO they aren't right now).

He's a good center no doubt because he's a mixture of strength and athleticism, but he's got some serious attitude problems. He doesn't verbally complain, but it really shows in his game play at times where he commits dumb fouls or gives up a play.
He was a good center playing on a bad team. I would also be pissed if I wasn't getting the ball under those circumstances.
IMHO the Big Dawg is really more bark than bite these days, I don't see how a franchise intent on "developing its young talent" would be interested in an older player, who is in poor overall phyisical condition, who when on the court demands the ball in his hands - but not to distribute, to shoot - and has a history not only of conflicts with teammates and coaches but also problems off the court. I'd rather have Pietrus, Biedrins, Dunleavy, etc. jacking up those same shots this year - at least they'll be around (hopefully) in a year or two to benefit from the playing time. I do not believe the Big Dawg would "help mentor the younger players" and I also do not believe he would be the missing link to propel GS to the playoffs. Sorry Glen, I'm sure you're a good person but personally as a GS fan I'd rather just let Damp walk than make that trade.
In a perfect world, Damp would go to the Wizards so the Warriors could make the playoffs in two different conferences at the same time... If the Philly deal did go down, I would prefer it just be with Philly and not with Dallas. I agree with Rude, getting Damp out of the West is just as important as who the Warriors get in return. As for getting Robinson, I go back and forth on the intelligence of the move. Robinson is a difficult player for any coach to handle, but it would be espeically hard for Montgomery given that he's a rookie coach trying to make the transition from college to the pros. But then again, he's been a 20 ppg scorer every year in the league but one. I dunno, the Warriors need a back up sf, I'm just not sure he's it. If Dunleavy were to start over him, it would make and already difficult big dog even worse. In my mind, the difference is always Mullin. I trust his judgment, and if he believes Robinson can fit in, I'll go along with it.
Welcome AlleyOop! Now that all you guys mention it, Big Dawg doesn't sound so great if he's going to be a pain in the ass for our team.
