Dampier: Danny Fortson Part II .. Dampier should've learned his lesson from Danny Fortson's comments last year before the season, that he could stop Shaq and give him fits, you wanna know how Shaq answered back?? .. Check out the season opener!
yes i believe his Dampier can handle Shaq and Moochie Norris will take the starting spot from Marbury .
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Flames:</div><div class="quote_post">yes i believe his Dampier can handle Shaq and Moochie Norris will take the starting spot from Marbury .</div> That would be quite the accomplishment considering he now plays for the Bulls.
If anyone can contain Shaq, it would be Dampier. He had some great games against him last season and didn't require double teams. That said, he is saying this to hopefully raise his stock.
This may or may not be surprising, but Eddy Curry has done the best job of containing Shaq over the past 2 seasons IMO. Lemme find a stat line to back this up, then I'll post...

its wierd how some ppl see the stats and automatically assume shaq will dominate... u have to watch the game and see how hard he has to work on offense and on defence. u have to watch the contested shots, if he backs down... there are soooo many things to look at because the stats are how shaq dominates then.. this is now... just cuz tmac can average 30 doesnt mean he can score 30 for sure against any team.. tmacs had nights where he scores under 10
In all fairness to Dampier, those stats mentioned are career stats versus Shaq. He only broke out last season so those stats are a little misleading. Those are bold statements coming from a guy who only had one good season. I guess all the offseason hoopla surrounding him is getting to his head. However, I don't think it's entirely impossible for him to handle (or contain) Shaq. He certainly can't dominate Shaq but containing him is possible.
If Erick Dampier can stop Shaquille O'Neal, then I'm the greatest basketball player ever. Seriously, Shaq is gonna circle the date he meets up with Dampier and he is going to put him in his grave. Dampier will be wondering what the hell hit him. Shaq is so big and so strong, the only person in the world that can stop Shaquille O'Neal is Shaquille O'Neal. P.S- No disrespect to Damp's on my comment about him getting put in his grave by Shaq. Just a figure of speech comment.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting WadeDynasty:</div><div class="quote_post">It's great to be confident, but not that great to be humiliated after saying such thing</div>When the season starts and they meet, hopefully the guy can back up his words. Its always great to see action like that
Dampier could barely handle himself before last season, now hes going to handle Shaq? God.. never has someone with 1 good year of NBA play under his belt been so highly overrated. I enjoyed his season on MY Fantasy Team more than anyone, but hes nothing special.
