I was hoping that the new guy might be Allen, but he took himself out of the running today. Nothing against Nigel Burton but it seems as if since it is Rip City Radio you might get more of a basketball guy. Michael Holton and Orlando Williams are a couple guys that come to mind, but I haven't heard a single mention of their names.
I'll give the show credit for one thing while he was on it....they came up with our team name.....Flock of Zeros! (I added the Flock part)
Nah--that was long before Sheldon's entrance. That was Danforth back in September (I think) of last year.
you missed the, "when he was on it" part.......I was at the meet and greet last year right after we were dubbed, "the Zeros"....the photo of us by the fountain I called the Flock of Zeros.
If the "he" in "when he was on it" was referring to Danforth, then I didn't miss it, I just misinterpreted.
Right? For those that cant stop hearing about sports and what not. For those that will tune into the little league world series or college AA womens softball because there isnt any other sports on, it sucks to find a sports station and listen to them talking about Slurpies or something.... I mean I get it and we all need a bit of levity and a break from the analytical stats, etc, but if you find sports stations to be the most entertaining when NOT talking about sports, why tune in? Why not listen to NPR, or something? For me, I don't care if I hear the same topic talked about every day, as long as the topic has something to do with the Blazers...
And it's still boring. The only time I listen to sports talk radio is when its Issac and Suke... they don't bore me, because they talk about life. Other than that, I don't listen to sports talk radio. So, yes, you're right. And I said why I don't listen to it.
I guess it went over peoples' heads that I don't listen to sports radio.... And I guess it's not going to be a popular opinion, but yes.. even Blazers talk can get boring if it's rehashed with no new viewpoints.
I still don't rightly understand why RipCity radio exists. For games there's the FM feed over .. whatever that modern alt/rock station is. Any national show worth its salt has a streaming/podcast option, and two other stations field (better) local talent. There might be times that there are enough national and local games that you could fill 4 stations with broadcasts ... but one of those local games will probably be the Pickles or Hops.
So to recap, you just wanted to check in to a thread about sports radio and let us know that you don't listen to sports radio.
To be fair, I came to the thread thinking "Why is talking Ball Relevant? Please tell me he isn't the new color commentator." and I wouldn't be shocked if others made a similar mistake.
I watch a ton of internet podcasts or recapped interviews about the Blazers but I never really was a fan of talkin ball, mainly because of the guy who looks like a Bond villain
I have a go to response about that game....but enjoy the season! I have to watch it at work so I can talk about it with my client.
