Jake Peavy will rejoin the White Sox on Saturday as part of their tentative rotation to start the second half.

Peavy, who threw five innings and 90 pitches on Sunday in a minor league rehabilitation start for Double-A Birmingham at Huntsville, will face Atlanta after John Danks starts Friday’s series opener, according to a source.

Peavy hasn’t pitched for the Sox since June 4, when he was diagnosed with a left rib fracture, and he admittedly struggled with his command and stamina under humid conditions Sunday.

Left-hander Jose Quintana will pitch Sunday’s series finale against the Braves. Chris Sale is tentatively scheduled to start July 22 against Detroit. But that could change if Sale does not pitch in the All-Star Game or pitches more than one inning Tuesday night against the National League.

If Sale starts Monday night, he will oppose Detroit’s Max Scherzer, who is 13-1 and will start for the American League in the All-Star Game.

Hector Santiago is tentatively scheduled to start July 23 against the Tigers. The temporary alignment means that Dylan Axelrod, who has allowed 29 earned runs in 28 innings, is out of the rotation.
