Like said, there was no need for Melo. You'd just have a guy who needs to be the star of the team and have the ball in his hands, that's why hes a perfect fit in Denver.

    1. With Melo, the Pistons wouldn't have signed Sheed and that streak of holding opponents under 70 would have never happened. Without Rasheed they wouldn't have played nearly as great defense as they did. They probably wouldnt have as much wins, and would've had trouble with the Nets. Signing Sheed was probably the biggest move to winning the trophy.

    2. Tayshaun Prince. He was also a big part of that 'under 70' streak. With Carmelo, Tayshaun probably wouldn't have been in the game, let alone block Reggies lay-up. Then if they had gotten passed the Pacers, would Tayshaun still have the impact he did guarding Kobe? Then would 'The Big Nasty' be able to dominate the Laker small forwards with his low post game? Would Corliss even play at all? Unless Larry Brown decided to play Prince more than Melo (or not play him at all), the outcome of the Finals might have been a Laker victory.

And if the arguement is that Larry Brown doesn't play rookies, then why pick Carmelo at all? And Carmelo isnt a project, he could and would play if he were drafted over Milicic. It wasn't a dumb move at all for Dumars to take Darko, an athletic 7' big man project. But I do agree that they might have been able to take him with a lower draft pick.

Well atleast Melo wouldnt have broken his hand with 2 minutes left in the game. [IMG]

How bad do you feel for this kid? You get hyped up before the draft, get picked over Melo, only gets garbage minutes all year (and plays terribly at that, remember that missed dunk?), has nothing to do with his team winning the title and has to pretend he's happy, and he breaks his hand and can't even attend the Championship celebration? Tough luck man, I do hope this kid pans out.

Dumars also knew that his pick from last year, Delfino, would be coming over this year. That's another reason they didn't need Melo. The golden rule of drafting the best talent on the board doesn't always have to apply.
