San Antonio didn't win anything without Tim Duncan. They won w/out Parker and Ginobli, though...

There is no one player in this draft who will single-handedly fix all the team's problems. That doesn't mean you turn your back on a player who can be *part* of the solution.

I was talking about a 3-guard rotation. I wasn't talking about starting 2 6'3" guys. In fact, I said earlier that if you are interested in a future starting 2-guard, we should draft Pope.

I've said it before with McCollum and I'll say it again...He's too undersized to be a starting 2 guard.

We don't need him to be a starter. A 25-30mpg third guard who can just get buckets at will is what we need.

If we draft a SG at #10, we should really be hoping he can step into the starting role in the near term. Matthews doesn't really thrive with Lillard in the backcourt IMHO. I'd look to see if we can trade him or get him to the bench as soon as possible.

Yes he does. A spot shooter and good defender is what Lillard needs around him. Thats what Matthews does.

I don't want to draft a duplicate of Lillard. That just seems stupid to me. And this isn't a Telfair/Chris Paul thing again. If someone can honestly argue that McCollum is a better player than Lillard, so be it, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

I also like this, one of the best scenarios IMO. Both Players are great scorers, both are combo guards, I think such back court has a lot of potential.

If Mccollum and Lillard are anything like Curry and Ellis. That would be a lot of fun.

No, but Lillard does play very well in spurts letting someone else taking the distributing duties. Here's how I see it. I want Lillard to be on the floor less game to game, he is our franchise and we need to look after his short term and long term health, and cutting him back to around 38min per game at most is where to start. McCollum could be the floor leader and scorer during those times. Then, for stretches, let Lillard play off the Ball, and CJ would work well with that. He is a very high character, hard worker, efficient, really fits the mold one would expect to see on a winning team.

I'm not noted in on this at all, but I would be happy with tis outcome.

I would love to draft a duplicate of Lillard.

I may have overstated my stance on McCollum (shocking, I know)

I think he will be a nice player, and I suppose if we have a very good rim protector, he and Lillard could play together without getting killed defensively. Still rather have someone with star potential or a defensive stopper in college

CJ has star potential in the Steph Curry/Lillard mold. His D is already ahead of Lillard's from the scouting reports I've read (plays passing lanes well).

I agree with this. The only part of the Lillard/McCollum backcourt I would like to see is that they were both incredibly efficient in college. Not too many high scoring backcourts in the NBA have two efficient shooters.

I'd have to disagree that playing the passing lanes well is the same as being a good defensive player

That's the strongest part of his defensive game. He also gets defensive rebounds and closes out on shooters well.

    Happy now?

    I wasn't unhappy before.

All I know is that he has a 6' 6" wing span and an 8' 0.5" standing reach, while other SG's in the draft

    Pope 6' 8" / 8' 4.5"
    Muhammad 6' 11" 8' 8.5"
    Oladipo 6' 9" / 8' 4.5"
    McLemore 6' 7.75" / 8' 4.5"

Seems to me he will struggle defending NBA SG's
