I hate to do this, but can you refresh my brain on what the Euro cap space holds are? I am trying to remember how much they are and how they work.:pimp:

We are sooooo very deep - but it can be a luxury if everyone buys into the unsettled playing time.

I've said before that I would support a good trade of our bench guys in order to strengthen our rotation. I'd like to see us CONSOLIDATE some of our talent - BUT I don't know how I'd do it. I like our team and almost every player. But my goal would be to try to get the best 8-9 players out of our 16.

BTW - did you post that just to get my juices flowing for a trade???? I remember one time..........

Freeland, Claver, and Pete have salary cap holds on them for our cap purposes. Once the season begins (IIRC) those cap holds come off and we can then use that "space" to sign others or use it in trades coming in. I could be wrong - others know far better than me.

I see so they would allow an "unbalanced" trade then?

It should be around 2.6 million.

Right. For example, Outlaw at 4 million for a player making 6.6 million would work

    He's the most logical really.

Joel, Oden, Howard, Cunningham and Pendergraph, soon, can all back up LA for 12-15 minutes

Roy, Rudy, Batum, Webster, Ime, Cunningham and even LA for bits can all play the 3

Thanks for the info, but you deserved to be spanked for using that title for this thread! :smiley-spank:

So would this be a reason that Aldridge hasn't been signed yet? Or would his money for this year be unchanged anyhow? :pimp:

He's the most logical. But why trade him for another guy who will almost certainly demand just as many minutes?

I hope any deal we make would be a consolidation deal where we send out multiple players and get one back.

I really wonder if Rudy's stock is going to soar that much higher. He's coming off a nice Euro championship. He's still young and cheap. He hasn't grumbled a lot yet to the media. Everybody can see that he's got starter-quality talent. It's pretty easy to project that he'd probably be a 16-17 ppg player in the right situation this year, maybe eventually going 20+.

Unchanged for this season. An extension would only kick in for salaries after this season.

I laughed MM when I saw the thread title ... no harm done.

As for the possibility of a "deal coming soon" I sure as hell hope so. The team is about 6+ months overdue for a roster consolidation move of some sort and with Outlaw and Blake both in contract years I'd sure as hell like to get something of value for one or both by the trading deadline.

It's time KP learned to maximize his assets a little bit and get over the "I like our team" bullshit -- he may like his team, but there's a better than average chance his team may end up not liking his team before too long.

It makes no sense if it's not a consolidating move.

    PG: Miller/Blake/Bayless
    SG: Roy/Fernandez
    SF: Batum/Webster/Outlaw
    PF: Aldridge/Outlaw/Howard/Cunningham
    C: Oden/Przybilla/Pendergraph/Collins(?)

Blake/Bayless/Outlaw for Conley/Jaric works under the cap, for example.

Waive Jaric and the roster is a little more balanced

    PG: Miller/Conley
    SG: Roy/Fernandez
    SF: Batum/Webster
    PF: Aldridge/Howard/Cunningham
    C: Oden/Przybilla/Pendergraph

    Hello darkness, my old friend
Neither Conley nor Fernandez will be terribly happy. With no Blake, Conley will have more opportunity than Bayless...but he's also a year further along and has already played more than Bayless. I'm not sure he'll be happy with backup minutes...and there's no ability for him or Fernandez to moonlight at the other guard position, due to the presence of the other.

The only way I see to alleviate this is to do something like deal Bayless and Fernandez for a guard, allowing for mostly a three-guard rotation with Blake sopping up scrap minutes and being there in case of injury (his contract is over after this year, so it matters less if he's not pleased with that arrangement).

I still think we'll make some kind of move for Tayshaun Prince.

I think there'd be plenty of time for Miller/Conley/Roy/Fernandez. Well maybe not plenty, but quite a bit more than there is now IMO. There's always injuries, Miller's getting older, with Trav gone Roy might grab some spot minutes at 3, and Conley's still young. I'd advocate that trade for sure, even though we give up a lot of pieces, but I'd like to have some sort of pick coming back.

Memphis would add even more firepower, ha.

I'd love to make a move for Prince but what makes sense for Detroit? I think with Prince here at 3/4 we could play Batum more at 2 even if we wanted (since Prince is such a great passer). I'd definitely do Outlaw/Blake/Bayless for Prince.

    Miller/Fernandez
    Roy/Fernandez
    Batum/Webster/Ime
    Aldridge/Prince/Howard
    Oden/Pryzbilla

I think (assuming Roy and Miller work out well) that team's a championship contendor.
