First off, a quibble. The Spurs do not have that much talent. They have 3 great players who are all WELL into the downside of their careers (maybe Parker isn't "well" into his). They have one really good young guy. And then they've got a bunch of journeymen and scrubs. What they have is so much coaching talent that they don't need the most talented players. But that's just a side point... For me the number of minutes our starters play isn't as much an issue of health, but rather an issue of not preparing our bench players. We've got a lot of young guys on the bench who NEED game minutes in order to develop. If they're not getting consistent minutes throughout the season we won't have those 2-3 guys to come in off the bench and impact the Playoffs - and without that we're not going anywhere. Aside from impacting the Playoffs, the development of the bench is important because players who are more fully developed are worth more on the trade market than those who are underdeveloped. Maybe a more fully developed CJ or Robinson would land us the "missing piece"? And lastly, I think it's a sign of poor coaching if Stotts can't figure out how to develop and utilize players who clearly have some potential to be good role players at the least.
Dear Coach Stotts, What are you, a Laker lover?!? Why are you not playing our starters? You're trying to make our team lose! I hate you!
In Oregon, the minimum wage for working (or in this case playing a game) for 36 minutes is $5.40. I can sell them each very nice homes here in Beautiful Central Oregon for what they were paid to play that 36 minutes. Now THAT'S ridiculous.
After the starters (save Lillard's 17 mins) did not play vs the Fakers this thread is officially pretty stupid now...
I wonder why you think that? The concern was based on this My point was 37 and 36 minutes respectively was too high for those two and I would hope they'd cut minutes this season slightly instead of a slight increase over last years minutes. I don't give a shit that they played that many minutes in a preseason game, or that Aldridge played 0 in the next one. I care that he played them 37 and 36 minutes and said those were the minutes they'd likely get in the regular season, which last year would have put them both in the top 10 in minutes played. Then for some reason everyone stared piling on
I think this is one of those times where "Your reputation precedes you" would be an effective term. Also, not everyone. that would be a generalization, which I believe was mentioned prior. BACK ON TOPIC: I agree with you about the minutes. I don't want 34+ minutes averages or anywhere close... I don't expect a "Pop" like approach here, but good grief.
