This pretty much sums it up for me. What happened in that 5 second period was beyond horrible. I mean both calls were absolutely unbelievable. Calls are missed. That is part of the game. But to compound the mistake by calling an offensive foul 35 feet from the basket can't help but make fans think of Donaghy. The wierd part of it, was the refs actually did a great job the other 47 minutes and 55 seconds. WTF was that mental lapse in those 5 seconds about. It was pathetic.
I have to admit, those late plays were so obvious that they had to be called. But one was a no call and the other went the wrong way.
That was the worst thing I've seen since 1997 when Karl Malone literally held Drexler so that John Stockton would be free to hit the series winning three in the WCF. That was ridiculous.
Am I missing something? We did not face the Jazz in the 97 playoffs, nor in 98. I also don't see a moving screen violation in the Jazz/Rockets video posted above...
In the first highlight part you can see Malone (?) running in front of a player. At first glance it sort of looks like he is just running next to him, but I believe he is running in front of him as in blocking him from getting around. He starts to do ti before the ball is put into play. You can kinda see it in the third highlight too.
Yup -- I found another clip that shows it even better. That player Karl's harassing happens to be the Glide, making it even more of a sin. I had forgotten about that game until now!
