Yeah but he can shoot and play inside much like Melo in his old age.

I suspect that Joker and MPJ will have big games tonight (like a trip dub from Joker) and that will mean things are back on track for Denver (according to the media).

I don't really know, but it has to be exhausting keeping Kanter off the offensive boards.

Even if he's efficient against Kanter, it must be tiring.

I don't think he can shoot like Melo. Not many people can shoot like Melo. He has to have one of the quickest triggers in the game.

I tend to think that's how you defend all scorers who are great passers. Jokic, Lebron, Harden, Doncic. Make them shoot... over and over. Nurk needs be very careful to stay out of foul trouble.

What's funny is I (and many others) said letting Nurk guard him 1v1 should be our gameplan going in. Glad Stotts listened for once.

    Jokic used and abused Nurk.

    Demolished.

For a defensive anchor Nurkic gives up way too many points to Jokic. He has to get better. Jokic is not faster so it's not like he cannot stay in front of him. He is just getty severely outplayed.

Yup. Should've adjusted at some point tonight. I said to try guarding Jokic one on one with Nurk and if he starts going off, see where he's having success then provide Nurk the help defense to try to take that away. Stotts did the first part, but since he can't/doesn't want to adjust, he hasn't done the 2nd part. We'll see if he adjusts for Game 3 but previous series don't give me a lot of hope.

One adjustment Nurk can't allow Jokic have uncontested shots right at the free throw line that's automatic 2. But you really have to get in to Jokic if you allow him space then allow him to either put the ball down for a drive or a shot I believe Nurk or kanter needs take that space away.

I'm not sure how to go about it

looks a little extreme, but maybe it's accurate. I'm a bit skeptical because Nurkic's defensive rating is 121 in the playoffs; and his DBPM is the same as RoCo's at 0.4. Nurkic is 2nd on team behind Dame in PER and winshares/48, and 3rd in BPM behind Dame and Simons

    there is this:

    upload_2021-5-28_18-29-4.png

that goes to explaining the 2-1 hole in the playoffs. Three of the rotation players are well into + green combining for 321 minutes. But 5 of the other rotation players ae well into the - red. That's not going to win many ball-games. Tiny sample size though

I will say, that before Nurkic broke his leg he was widely considered to be the 2nd best player on the team with the 2nd most impact. He's getting back to that position
