Yeah, taking over 1/6th of the US economy behind closed doors is a "molehill".

I read a great analogy this morning. Would the reaction from the Left be the same if President Bush had campaigned that he would reform Social Security in a bi-partisan and transparent manner, televising the negotiations on C-SPAN and then completely privatized Social Security in a closed-door meeting with he, Cheney, DeLay and Frist?

This stuff is beyond politics. It's about shady dealings in government. The Republicans were quite rightly called out for it when they did it on inconsequential legislation. Why are the Democrats different simply because the media and most members of the press agree with their aims? Especially when it means radically changing 1/6th of the US economy? It's the process that's important.

    Same old politics.

I'm starting to get a one term feeling from Obama unless he really starts picking up his game.

Doesn't make me sad, the thing that would scare the hell out of me would be a republican/neo-con getting control and fucking up our country even more. Dear God.

Thankfully I don't think Americans would go for a neo-con any time soon.
