I'd like to see Rupert get some more playing time. He hangs his hat on relentless defense. That guy will wear out opposing guards with his 7'2" wingspan. Just needs to be able to shoot well enough. Then sign him to a long-term "team friendly" deal. He's still the youngest player on the roster.
I have a picture Pinned to my wall An image of you and of me And we're laughing, we're loving it all But look at our life now All tattered and torn We fuss and we fight and delight in the tears That we cry until dawn Oh, oh Hold me now, woah Warm my heart Stay with me Let lovin' start, let lovin' start
I mocked that song when it came out, like a lot of other non-hard-rocks songs from that time. Now I like it. I even paid to see Tom Bailey (Thomson Twins) , Culture Club, and the B-52s (always liked them).
Or (Playing devil's advocate) maybe they are better off signing him to a cheap long-term deal before he is allowed to show everyone his worth. They should have an idea of how good/bad he is from the Gleague and in practice.
You're ignoring the fact that Reaves just became less valuable to the Lakers because if they play him alongside of Doncic they'll have a historically awful defense. He's basically poor man's Luka. Now, that's still useful, but not as useful to the Lakers as a really good defensive center. (Overlooked in this is that the Lakers gave up Max Christie. Now, that's small potatoes in the grand scheme of things but his insertion into the starting lineup was what sparked their turnaround and improved defense.)
