I don't think Denzel is all that fantastic. He's good, yeah, and he can really strike emotion, but he's not good at playing a wide variety of roles. In most everything, he has the same tone and character. I'd pick Depp, Norton, and Russell Crowe over him.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Yall are picking great movies, not really great actors.</div> Who you talking to? I've basically seen Denzel movies been listed. And you say he's a good actor. So I don't get the comment. <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Christian Bale is good, but he doesn't have a chance with Denzel, Leonardo and Deniro</div> Bale is underrated. If anything I would put him on the same level as DiCaprio. Equilibrium is one of my favorites of Bale but the guy has been around the block. I seriously urge you to check out his performance in the Machinist. And what he went through for that role. Great actor as pj pointed out.

Yeah in the movie, Rick Fox was trying to get him to commit to his college, and Fox got Ray Allen two girls, and while doing it, he gave head to one of them.

On movie boards(imdb.com), everyone agrees that he is in the top 3 actors of the present time. Seriously watch his movies and you'll see that he is a great actor. What I find amazing is that a lot of people think that he is American because he plays a lot of Americans in movies and has a perfect accent. He is British though. He still has his British accent but doesn't use it alot. While filming Batman Begins, the crew said he never talked in his native accent. For all his interviews he uses his American accent as well. Overall though, he is a great actor. Much better than DiCaprio.
I love Denzel, but Training Day as a movie was overrated as sh*t. Don't get me wrong, it was a solid movie. However, it is always being portrayed as a great film, which it isn't close to being
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>I love Denzel, but Training Day as a movie was overrated as sh*t.</div> To add, Denzel's big speech at the end reeked of over the topness. <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>DiCaprio is overated in my opinion while Bale is widely accepted as a great actor by the masses.</div> And really DiCaprio is only now making a transistion to selecting better roles for his acting. Pre-Titanic, besides Basketball Diaries/What's Eating Gilbert Grape, he used his pretty boy looks in most of his films early on up to Titanic. After, he took grittier, meatier roles, hence working with Scorcese where he was showing his talents. But overall, Bale has just done more films in his career and showed his range, while DiCaprio you can say is still green and making his career. I'd give the edge to Bale for experience. Both are great actors in their own right though. I look at both on the same level for that reason.
Washington is my favorite drama actor. He seems to be able to make any movie interesting for me. Like that stupid movie about a gay Tom Hanks with gay aids that I had to watch in health class, the only reason I could watch a movie conforming the fact that I already think Tom Hanks could be gay, is because Washington was in that movie. He is a great actor and my favorite drama actor (Will Ferrell is my favorite comedy man).
