You gotta respect Fisher's point guard skills he almost beat out Baron Davis during the allstar break skills test but he bombed the top of the key shot. But look at it this way he will actually get the ball to the big man. That's been his entire career! No more Steve Francis and Mobley hogging the ball and ignoring the 7'5" Chinese guy in the paint.

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Phreeze:</div><div class="quote_post">Did you watch him last season? he shot under 30% from the 3point line and 35 percent overall.. I know many have said it was just an off year, but how the hell do you consistently shoot that bad when you play all 82 games of the season? I was real disappointed in his shot selection as well. I know his numbers will be better next year (or else he'd be out of the league) but damn it was a nightmare watching him miss all those shots.</div>Did you watch the playoffs?

    41.8% from 3PT.

Well the rockets seem to be becoming what the lakers were during there dynasty fisher playing himself, tmac being kobe, yao being shaq, taylor being malone, and who ever they have playing the small forward hopefully it will be jackson will be the fifth beetle like george was for the lakers.

If only all this could have happened before the lakers dynasty crumbled. Then we would have a hell of a matchup in the west. Hopefully my twolves will still be better than the rockets. In my mind though the twolves or rockets at this point are the favrites to win the west. Depending how tmac and Yao play together because no one knows how the chemistry will play out, but just on pure talent these are the two most talented teams in the west at this point.

Was it that high in the playoffs? I was so disappointed in Gary Payton throughout that I didn't even notice that.. I know he's usually a great shooter as I've said before, but either way it was disappointing to see a usually very reliable shooter go under 30% for an entire season.

Since when does having a desire to start become cheap? Fisher is one of my favorite players (and my fav laker) and I would hate to see him leave Los Angeles. However, if he feels playing somewhere else is in his best interest, then I, along with most of los angeles, will give him our blessings...

You just can't hate Fisher...he's a fan favorite and simply a great guy. He has been a class act as long as he's been here.

I guarenteee you that if Kobe, Shaq, and Fisher all leave the Lakers, Fisher would be the last one booed at Staples when he comes back as an opponent ...

I'd accept Fish with open arms.

And how is it that players have a responsibility to be "loyal" to their team, but when a team trades a player that's "just business?" Fisher (and any other free agent) should go wherever is the best situation for him. I think Houston would be a great match. He doesn't demand the ball too much (like Francis), he can hit big shots, and he's a solid defensive player. I'm liking this lineup:

    C - Yao Ming
    PF - Mo Taylor
    SF - Tracy McGrady
    SG - Jim Jackson
    PG - Derek Fisher

    That's solid, man.

There's no way Mo Taylor would start. JVG just loathes him because of his lack of rebounding and defense.

^ Well Van Gundy wouldn't have much choice, because if they do get Juwan Howard from the T-Mac trade he's also a big guy who doesn't play defense. He can rebound better than Taylor, but he's just as bad on D.. Two big PFs who can score but can't play D.. thinking about that must drive JVG crazy!

Is Juwon Howard much better than Mo Taylor in those categories? Man, if only we could get a hard-nosed rebounding PF in here. Karl Malone would be great, but I don't think Houston fans would be particularly welcoming. [IMG]

Adding Derek Fisher to the rotation sounds good for a team that has almost a 40 year PG (If the Rockets trade Francis)

Troy Hudson's agent said he'd be interested in playing for Houston.. Now Hudson, is a real good role player that can get 15 ppg. 8 apg. when he starts..

Hudson's style of play is a fast-tempo style that we just got rid of in Francis. I don't think we'd be better off with him than without him.

I think that fisher would get a starting spot only if the magic get the franchise. if that trade doesnt go down then you might as well go to the ease

troy hudson is not a starter he needs to come of the bench in releif he can play the one or two it doesnt matter he proved that he can score when hot but he should stay as a backup

i agree with the all but the end. trade juwan and taylor get a big rebounder this should be the line up point-tracy shooting-derek small-jim jackson power-? center-yao they need to trade to get a big rebounder

i'm surprised some laker fans would bad mouth D. Fish. The guy is a class act, he doesn't whine about not getting the ball or the spotlight. He'll give you 100% effort at all-times. He's still a good defender although he has trouble with small fast guards like parker or mighty mouse. He's a solid 3pt shooter and he doesn't turn over the ball. I would take him over Gary Payton anyday. The Rockets would be lucky to have him. Hell I wish he was staying in LA.

Fisher was ok playing with a big man and a swingman as he did in LA. But he is not a guy who can make speeches in the locker room. Tmac or Yao cannot do this job either. I would take Darrell Armstrong if he is 5 years younger.
