At least 3 women in my family were raped and I have known countless other women who have been sexually assaulted and work in social services for sexual assault survivors. None of them reported the assault. You can kind of understand why when you read this thread. They got no justice. No one paid for their years of therapy. But, I guess it just could have been an elaborate ruse to trick everyone because of their remorse. And I guess I am a white knight because I oppose rape.

Reporting is a personal choice. If you are a victim, you have the choice about whether to subject yourself to the SAFE kits which are pretty fucking invasive after you have just been raped and whether you really want to be subjected to an investigation, etc. Personally, I think it is pretty callous to look down on someone for choosing not to report. It is their decision. Afterall, they are the victim. Sure, reporting could prevent reoffenses, but in that moment you are in shock and you are justifiably concerned you won't be believed. You feel violated and the investigation feels like it would be violating you all over again. It is a he said, she said situation and you are worried you won't be believed. I will never look down on someone for choosing not to report. Now, I get it, Jane Doe waited 2 years to say anything and her story seems farfetched. Date rape drugs are incredibly tough to detect. I have heard that usually by the time the victim is conscious, the drug has left the person's system. Although the story doesn't seem to make sense, does that mean it didn't happen? Not being an expert on rape drugs or a toxicologist I can't really comment. If Mrs. Doe is a liar, she is doing more harm than to just D. Rose; she is causing those real victims to question whether they should report, and that is why I will never jump to conclusions about whether an SA accusation is true. Doing so is part of the problem in my opinion.

I'm not jumping to a final conclusion here, but TBH from everything that is presented so far, I dont see how this is going to get to a verdict in her favor at all, which pushes my 'opinion' to question all of what she is saying - makes me feel like its a 'settle out of court' pitch, where, assuming it did happen, is pathetic and detrimental to the ongoing justice and policing of these type of offenses. just to be clear, i can't stand derrick rose, gold diggers or rapists. they can all rot in hell as far as im concerned.

Had you any extended reading on the subject you'd realize quite readily how absurdly-derived and manipulated some of these statistics actually are. The 1/5 statistic is flawed not only because of the survey method but also because it doesn't measure rape as it is commonly defined, nor does it purport to. It's a measure of sexual assault with very loose/ambiguous definitions of what comprises assault - not strictly the legal definition. Not only were survey takers self-selected and offered a gift for taking the survey, but they were taken from only two universities. But what really gets me is that you believe only 1.3% of men are raped as opposed to 20% of women. This is clearly an abuse of the definition of rape as it concerns males vis-a-vis females and it shows the marginalization of male sexual assault victims as a result if anything. There is much evidence that adolescent boys are molested comparably to adolescent girls, and one would be prudent to wonder how all those young boys, men outside of prison, and men who are raped in prison account for only 1/15 the rate of sexual assault as women. Though, I do doubt you see far enough past your ideology to consider that there are inordinate victims in this world not women; or to conclude that such a stark contrast between male and female sexual assault victims is an extreme improbability parroted as fact for political/ideological reasons.
