I thought Roy had the best NBA body for the position he was going to be asked to play, and I had Rudy Gay as second. I was hoping the Cats would take either of them over Morrison, but it was pretty common knowledge that we were going with him. As for who would win, I felt it was between Roy and Morrison, since, as was stated before, the guys who play the most minutes win. More generally put, the guys who play a lot of minutes are the only ones in contention. So you could be the best rookie in the league, but you won't win if you're only playing 20 mpg. And you also have to get minutes right out of the gate, unless its a weak rookie class(which Roy's class was). When Paul won, Raymond Felton actually put up favorable numbers over the last 3 months of the year, which were the only months of the year where he was getting significant playing time(before that he was only backing up Brevin Knight). But the lead Paul had from the first half of the season was too much to weather for the late charges by Felton and by Villanueva in Toronto.
In short, yeah, I had Roy winning from the get go, and Durant for this year, hands down. I don't think anyone else even has a shot. Green maybe, if Carlesimo thinks he's more NBA polished than Durant, but this is a long shot. Horford has the simple problem that he was drafted by the Atlanta Forwards(seriously, has anyone in that front office even seen a basketball game!?!) and will get lost in the logjam. He's not gonna get enough minutes while contending with the Williams's and the Josh's. Law will probably get more burn for the Hawks this year, but I see him putting up Mookie Blaylock numbers, quality but definitely not ROY worthy.
Conley's got a shot, especially if he manages to balance taking on a big part of the offensive load with his playmaking duties. Two sleepers are Corey Brewer and Brandan Wright. Brewer's gonna have a shot at a lot of playing time now that the TWolves have the worst team in the league(but with the brightest future?), and Wright doesn't have a lot of bigs to contend with in GState, and even less that can run in the Mad Scientist's system.
