Did Neil tell Aldridge to say those things? I doubt it

I call BS on this report. You can go back and watch LMA's play this year, and there are two definitive times he "gives up" and mails it in. The first was with about 10-15 games remaining in the year. The second was in the playoffs.

If LMA was set on leaving the entire year, he would have mailed it in to start the year.

He would've gotten the same check by getting surgery on his thumb and sitting out the season..so there's that

Yup. Plus the whole traveling alone, showing up late thing in the middle of the playoffs.

Olshey is from New York, 9/11 happened in New York. Coincidence?

If LA was going to stay he would have signed the extension. Just by reading your posts, you've come to that connclusion. LA had a pretty good feeling for a long time that he wasn't going to be here permanently. No matter who it was for, he was going to say what had to say get himself out of bad situation. Especially if it worked. And it did.

It is conceivable that he changed his mind. They were fresh off a second round exit against the Spurs. We had a ton of good publicity and everyone was excited. It's possible that he really did want to stay at that point, but the seeds were already planted that he is a jealous person, he had thought about leaving already, and the draw to go back to Texas was strong. I just find it HIGHLY unlikely that the Blazers told him to say those things, and if they did, I find it HIGHLY unlikely that he would agree to do it.

More like... Everyone bet on last year's team. It blew up when Wes got hurt. LMA might have stayed if they went deep in the playoffs.

Blessing in disguise, especially with the new quick article confirming everything about Aldridge's personality.

What I'l say about that is as much as BlazersEdge might hate Neil Olshey, it's been clear to me that Quick isn't a big fan of Aldridge's.

Who the hell knows at this point. Neil needs to finalize the roster and make some trades and then SL needs to start. Tired of thinking about this.

Lmao. Quick is hilarious with this shit. He stirs it up but I think he's actually pretty decent at his job.

So suddenly we trust Jason Quick? What if Canzano says bad things about Aldridge, will that make him a good journalist?

Pretty much this, and who knows what the vibe was at that point. I'm guessing Lillard filled the leadership void and LMA didn't want to go back to being second fiddle. Probably a good deal of bitterness from his impending Max, giant shoe deal, etc as well.

Maybe Lillard froze guys out, maybe he didn't get along with guys. I'm sure we will find out.

But I'm not gonna say LMA lied about staying, at the time he likely believed it himself. He changed his mind. And that really fucking sucks for the Blazers. I am a Blazer fan. Hence the feels.

    Agreed.

LMA looks like crap either way. He is either a liar who said a bunch of bullshit. Or now he's putting out bullshit to make others look like liars. I don't see any scenario where he looks good

Well, the scenario where he looks good is if he becomes option #1 on the Spurs and they win 10 straight championships because of him.

    Seems... unlikely.

He doesn't look good, but he still might look better than Olshey.
