<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (WELCOMEtotheJUNGLE @ Apr 17 2007, 08:46 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>The only reason I question it is because this team arleady had a ton of injuries, Paul Pierce played with a bad elbow and a weak foot against the Magic (a playoff team) on March 29th and we took the Magic into 2OT. Doc didn't play Powe, Ray, Telfair down the stretch of that game. They tried to win that game. If they were really on board the tank train why didn't they try to lose that game when they weren't even sure if they were going to lock up the #2 pick. It's not like after January this team just sat down and folded. They were still competing up until the beginning of this month when Paul was officially ready to shut it down.</div>
Yes, and that Magic game was GREAT (I was there too). But after Pierce went down, we tanked immediately from April 4th to April 13th, to be exact.

I'll agree with that statement from April 4th on.

Well, I dont know if they are really tanking, but they have been in a bad situaton. They are without Paul for the rest of the year, jefferson was out, and they only had like 8 guys playing on their roster....They havent put out the most effort as of late...

Of course not. According to Doc, he was teaching a lesson. Duh! [IMG] Yes we did tank that one, and I was there too. We tanked probably 5-6 games total.

If you are talking about Pierce, then I think you're wrong. It was 100% right to shut Pierce down. He had too many bumps and bruises, his elbow was leaking, his foot was hurting a bit, his knee, his eye. He was really banged up, what's the point of playing him and risking further injury when we aren't playing for anything and we need to develop/evaluate our young players?

This guy has been one of the most consistent players in the league. This was the first year he's even missed more than like 5 games. The guy was draining liquid from his elbow while playing in meaningless games down the stretch of the year. To have him "suiting up" or even thinking about playing now or near when he went down is absolute retarted. No other franchise player would be out there playing right now if they were in the Celtics position

Do you realize that Pierce played through March? In April, he shut it down, which makes sense. We needed this month of April to play these young players for a development and evaluation period. And again, why risk further injury?

meh, the C's lost the season when Paul went down and we had an 18 game losing streak. Then we lose Allen. The C's were still trying to win when Paul came back, but at some point in the last 1/4 of the season, you have to look forward to next year when it ain't happening this year.Otherwise you're not a very good or realistic GM and Coach IMO.Gomes and Doc admitting it, is a catch 22.Well everyone knows it's happening to the lower rung teams so I kinda applaude them for admitting what everyone pretty much knew.On the other hand, it makes the franchise look bad and in society appearance is very important wether you would admit it or not.
