Listening to Chad Ford it sounds like Waiters is a lock to go top-10. Before he cancelled all his workouts Ford did mention that after workouts he'd be a lock to go in the top-10. The Raptors (#8) and Hornets (#10) are very high on him and is a prime candidate for these picks. If the Blazers want him I think you have to use the #6.
I hope Waiters goes #5, or 7-10. I'm sure he will be a good player, but I can't be convinced to draft a guy at 6 who couldn't even start on his college team, and is underlengthed for his position.
This is just the role his coach had for him. He was NCAA's James Harden and by far their best player.
Yeah, drafting a 22 year old combo guard out of a school smaller than most JUCO's is soooo much better.
That actually is a very good example. I remember him coming off the bench, even though he was their best player.
Russell Westbrook? Yes, he was a freshman, but Collison started at PG the next year too, ahead of Jrue Holliday.
Connecting the dots and what teams were interested (Raptors) I had a hunch it would be our #6 pick. No way do you cancel EVERYTHING for a late lotto promise. Tince is on to something here.
One thing I do like about Waiters is he seems to have a lot of confidence. Sign me up for him at 11. I'll be disappointed in him at 6. Such a small 2 guard though.
He canceled interviews (let alone workouts) before the combine even started. I think to make sure he'd be available at #6, we'd make this kind of promise.
my source says olshey and PA were up all night talking prospects after their handshake deal, and they called waiters to guarantee him at the #6 pick at 3:30 AM june 4th
