Yeah alot of guys think that if they voted for Nash last year, than they'd have to vote for him this year caue he's doing so much better.

Yeah, and that's really gay, because it deserves to be an even two-man race right now.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Waqas @ Mar 26 2006, 04:03 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>Dude, the Suns would perform better with Nash out than the Mavericks with Dirk out.Look at the Suns's second best player, Shawn Marion, and compare him to Jet. Who's better?Obviously Marion.</div>But, would Marion be able to lead that team to a decent seed in the playoffs without Nash and Amare? I don't think so... They probably wouldn't even make the playoffs.Last year, everybody hated on Nash because he had Amare... that was their excuse for believing that Nash didn't deserve the award. This year, he doesn't have Amare, no JJ, no Q-Rich, and people are hating because he has Marion? Please... what the cat has done with the players around him shows that he truly is the MVP. A lot of players on the Suns are having career years because of Nash... including Shawn Marion.Dirk is having a great season, no doubt about it, but I think that if you took Dirk off the Mavs for an entire season, and you took Nash off the Suns (w/o Amare) for an entire season, the Mavs would finish with a better record... whatever that maybe. The Mavericks have more team depth and talent than the Suns do (when you don't include Nash and Dirk).

Point guard is usually the most important position. Take away any of the starting point guards on most teams they are in trouble. Even the backup is important at point guard.

Wow... obviously some people here cannot accept that Nash deserves to win the award over Dirk. I mean, some of the reasons I've read of why Dirk should win it are ludicrous... but it's understandable coming from Maverick fans. [IMG]

The only guy who is consistent on Dallas is Dirk. Even Terry goes in slumps. Howard has been injured too much.

Well Dirk does get a lot of help. Terry is a great shooter, Howard is a great slasher, Dampier and Diop both play physical, block shots, and rebound, Harris is becoming a pure point guard, Daniels can slash also, and etc. Of course Nash gets help also but it's not clear who should get it and probably Nash wins the tiebreak if their equal due to the respect he gets from the media.

Dirk is an mvp candidate but he's not going to be 2nd. I have not come across one nba writer who's said his the mvp.

I think the selection committee knows a little more than ESPN

I honestly think they should let NBA coaches/panel of players select the MVP and DPOtY. Although, that brings up the case that they might base their votes off individual performances against the team (EG: Toronto coach will definately vote for Kobe)

I like that idea Theo, but then like you said there will be some errors.Maybe they should use do something like they do for the Heisman Trophy. Let the media have a vote, and then give a vote to every player who has won an MVP award in the league.

I would suggest letting the coaches vote for all stars also. People say if that happen fans would not watch the game. Well me as a fan loves basketball and would love to see any combination of stars playing. I can live without Vince Carter or T-Mac.Yes I want to be entertained but watching basketball is enough to keep me happy.

I think the candidates should be limited, e.g.-Any players are eligible with 50+ plus team-Any player averaging 25+ is eligibleetc.

You dont have to score to be a MVP.. Nash avereged like 15/16 ppg last year and 11 asst. and he won it. It's the players presence on the floor for the team makes a MVP.

Lolz, WE ALL KNOW THAT.That's why Dirk should be MVP. He does everything well, and this is just his year. Simple as that.

Ok I get it you aren't in favor of Dirk winning the MVP. There is so much Kobe homerism on this site it makes me sick. At least Nash has a winning team.

I've been saying all along that Dirk is second behind Nash for the MVP, in my opinion. What I find funny is a lot of the reasons people here give for Dirk being more deserving than Nash for the MVP, as well as why he is more deserving than Kobe (and I do believe Dirk is more deserving than Kobe). It's not that I don't want Dirk to win it, it's just that the reasons that are being stated are either 1) completely ridiculous, 2) contradict what the same people have said in earlier posts, or 3) are completely unfounded.Clearly you guys have made some rational, valid points, but lately I have been reading some clearly irrational and absurd reasons to support from members to suppor their arguments.
