FWIW The star rating system is built into the software. The folks at IPB figured it was a worthwhile thing to have in forum software, so that's all there is to it. My theory is that we should enable every feature we can to benefit us all (especially members/new members), but if it's really that big of a deal, we could just turn it off.
I wouldn't mind unifying a user rating scheme (whether stars or not) and the blue boxes and have it be related to a system that is determined purely by specific post repping. Q>Q
There is a rep system mod that likely works on a per post system. It's something on my todo list of things to add. First thing I want to add is the arcade mod so we have some games to play.

It's nothing to do with this www site that I know of. I don't know of anyone else who's having this problem.
Odd, I'm on other boards that use cookies to save logins, and they still work. It also worked fine on the old site. This is on my other computer. I'll go check my normal's firewall.

Wow, huge improvement over the old site! Best of all it now works on my iPhone, woo hoo! Ability to filter out images, avatars, and sigs is nice for fast page loading too. I have noticed a few issues so far: -- The standard forum font seems very small, is there somewhere I missed in the settings to adjust this? -- I get logged off sometimes (but not always) between pages. Dunno if it's just a really short timeout period or what. Sometimes the login even sticks between browser restarts, I can't pin down the exact conditions but it definitely auto logs off sometimes. -- I get a 404 page when I click on the "Low-fi Version" link at the bottom of the page.
