it varies from sport to sport. great basketball players can be much more impactful on their game than say a a great quarterback cause technically somebody like marino doesn't play half of the game when his defense is on the field. to that end, a championship is the prerequisite to be considered a great basketball player in my opinion. and i think we have all seen great basketball players take over a game in spite of the glaring deficiencies of their supporting cast (e.g. d. wade)

Just cause you wait and don't have sex with anything that walks doesn't make you gay.</div>Sorry, but I didn't mean your female friends. But your "girlfriends". I hang out with many girls, too. It's just more interesting to hang out with girls than with boys. Don't get me wrong here.
I wouldn't make that analogy about girls and getting laid. Championships are pointless. What one should be judged upon is how well they play in the regular season and playoffs; then if one never wins a ring despite his stellar play, that was not his fault at all. The only key is to determine what is "stellar" play. For example, inefficiently averaging 31ppg (with mediocre defense) is not cutting it.
