With CJ playing better as of late, and Leonard having been confirmed as a legit NBA player, the possible knock on Olshey's drafting is diminishing.

Slowly but surely, his draft picks are working out. I just hope we deal TRob because we're going to lose him for nothing this summer.

That was the other potential criticism of him in this thread: basically the idea that he's not going to make the best out of available assets by not making a mid-season trade. IMO, if he makes a deal for one of the wings we've mentioned recently (Martin, Afflalo, et al), then we're going to be in a really good position, both now and into the future.

I trust that Olshey isn't a stupid fuck like Morey, who blows their load on shitty players. Olshey is a GM assassin, waiting patiently for the perfect deal, while picking "under the radar" players that surprise the league.

    In Olshey we Trust!

We didn't give up a lot to get him and honestly he isn't worth that much. It wouldn't be much of a loss to let him walk away at the end of the season.

All true; at this point, he is basically a 3.7M expiring. Of course, that in and of itself is often enough to return a decent player. Couple him with Dorell, and that's enough expiring's to match salary with most of the players on the trade block.

Even if he's not worth much to us, he's still an asset, and smart businesses maximize return on assets whenever possible.

The guy knows how to talk. He was born for this.

He used the word chemistry a lot, and said that he didn't want to mess it up! Oh, some people must be mad!!! :MARIS61:

I think you should throw in Freeland on the plus side of Olshey's tenure here as well. Neil has taken us from the Felton, Babbit, Nolan Smith, Jared Jeffires era to the 2nd round of the playoffs and improved results each year he's been here. I trust Olshey...sorry jlprk, I know you really miss trader Bob

    Freeland was well before Olshey.

No..though Olshey didn't draft his rights and stash him in Europe for several years, it was Olshey who signed him to a roster spot wasn't it? And Claver as well. Freeland was a steal. If I'm not mistaken, Nate or Kaleb never coached him.

After listening to him this evening, it's too bad you couldn't morph the two of Leonard and Freeland. It's going to be difficult to get them both time when Joel gets back and who do you sit? Kaman?

    Don't think so.

Save Kaman for the playoffs (reduce his minutes to keep him sharp healthy and fresh).

Develop Leonard and Freeland for the playoffs (give them most of the backup C and PF minutes).

It's an obvious yes. The poll is 31-1 saying so.

I think he inherited a situation where the team was on the decline and had lost two cornerstone players (Roy and Oden). He managed to round out the starting 5 with Lopez and strengthened the bench.

He's working under CBA restrictions and given those, he's had remarkable success. TRob may not have panned out, but Olshey scored a top of the draft picked player for hot garbage and a couple of picks.

He picked Stotts as coach, no? He kept the core players together so there's continuity (a big plus). He made LMA happy when there were those rumors he wanted out.

    Brilliant strategies.

His draft picks have been fine. The team is playing its best players to try to win a championship, so there just aren't a lot of development minutes to be had.

The real test is when he has to deal with his own free agents and the harsh luxury tax penalties.

If jlprk doesn't like him, he must be the guy.

Don't forget this is largely the same roster that his predecessor (Chow) wanted to dismantle the team & tank for a few years.

Kind of says something for the coach also. Don't you think?
