<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Pacers fan forever @ May 4 2007, 04:58 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>I guess I look at the NBA with more open eyes. The last 30 championship teams have always been defenive minded. Defense wins. Offense does not. It's better to have a stragety and gameplan and a coach who helps dictate the game. Because, historically, that's what has won. It must just be matter of opinion, but I think the right way to play basketball is to find a balance between defense and offense. The Warriors cannot succeed the way they play, which is part of my reasoning, and then they play the wrong way in my opinion so I guess that's why I don't like watching them play because I'd refuse to be a part of a team like the Warriors.</div>The thing is is that the Warriors are not a championship calibre team. They went beyond anybody's wildest expectations and dominated the best team in the league who did "find a balance between offense and defense". The other ironic thing is that the Warriors played phenomenal defense in that series, keeping the mavs to 42% shooting and Dirk to 38% shooting. It's not as if the Warriors were just winning games through offense. The last 30 championship teams may or may not have "always been defensive minded". It doesn't matter, the Warriors are not a championship calibre team right now and are exceeding everybody's expectations. There is no other style that would get more success out of this Warriors team, so therefore it's successful. If you play by the rules, and play well, you're not playing wrong. period.

The reason for the Mavs shooting percentage was not Golden State's defense, it was just the oddness of their playing style. But Houston will be ready. The Mavs were not and so they were out of synch. The best team did not win.

They're both tops in the league in offense and average in defense. Obviously there are some major differences, but they are in no way "the complete opposite". That's like when people say Kobe is "the complete opposite" of Jordan. Sure they did some stuff differently, but overall are similar in all facets of the game, albeit getting those things achieved through different modes.

The Mavericks were LUCKY to win two games that series.

The Warriors are a one on one team while the Suns are team games. The Warriors have no control, the Suns do....It's all a misconception because they both score lots of points but neither team is alike.

The Warriors have some of the best ball movement in the league. People pass up open shots to give a better open shot to a teammate. Everybody it selfless. There are no egos. It's beautiful to watch.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (playaofthegame @ May 4 2007, 06:20 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>No, man it isn't like that at all to me. I personally wanted to see the Mavs win this game and for it to go to game 7 and for it to come down to the wire.BUT as a basketball fan watching the Warriors play like that is beautiful. I understand you're pissed though I would be too if my team's MVP played like that. He should still win it though. If they had faced the Clippers we wouldn't even be questioning Dirk's game and whether or not he deserves MVP.Nellie is just a more experienced coach than Avery and was his mentor. He had his number and knows the Mavericks inside and out.Mavs should just try to continue to build on what they have and Avery needs to switch things up night in and night out and prove next year he is a great coach and fire back on Nellie's strategies.Mavs will still be one of the teams to beat in the NBA next year and IMO should not move any of their big name players just because of this series.Like I said..the reason the Mavs fell apart was because they were out coached by Don Nelson (and by no means should Johnson be moved next year..by no means). He is one of the best coaches of all-time while this is Johnson's what 3rd season?I say just continue to build off the talent and depth of the team this year and go and try and win a title again next year with a new, more stable game plan.</div> :dribble: Glad to hear someone finally agree with my thoughts.
I dunno, I think my points are valid enough. Obviously, you're gonna like the Warriors, pestilence, because they're winning and its something to be excited about, but in my broad, general, non-homer, opinion the Warriors play ugly basketball.
