Does this count as throwing Nate under the bus?

This is the kind of thread that will become exaggerated in people's memories as time goes on. Years from now, people will say that Felton whined and bitched, remember that article that I can't find? This is how the Sheed incident of playfully throwing a ball toward Boom Boom got engraved into the woodwork of his enemies' memories as a horribly painful moment for Boom Boom. Etc.

Before anyone decides Felton was being rebellious, read page 2 of the article and you'll see that he was not.

Yeah, that Sheed what a kidder. I still remember the way he playfully threw a towell in Sabonis' face on national TV. What a nut! Oh yeah, there was also that time he playfully set the NBA record for technicals - and then playfully broke his own record the following season! I still laugh myself silly about that one. And then there was that time he got suspended for 7 games for playfully threatening a ref. Ah, good times!!!

That Tech record was a joke though. The refs were T-ing him up for nothing at the beginning of games to send a message, and they clearly were making a game of it. It was like a running gun battle. The T that led to the loading dock incident was pure bullshit by a crooked ref. Yes, it hurt our team, and yes Wallace was a paranoid head case. Just because he was paranoid, that didn't mean they weren't out to get him. :) Sucked at the time, that's for sure.

    Ah, memories. :)

I think there may have been a reason that the refs were 'out to get him'. He was a complete idiot nearly every time they called a foul on him. All he had to do was shut his face, and the problem would have gone away.

He was an immature ass that got what he deserved. He "earned" his reputation and it came back to bite him in the ass. He was constantly hurting his team with all the technicals, ejections and suspensions. He was the most talented player on the roster, but refused to take a leadership role. Which is understandable as you can't lead your team anywhere when you've been ejected or suspended.

The guy had TONS of talent, but was an out-of-control headcase on the court. He could have been SO much better, if he could have controlled his temper, kept his mouth shut and just played the game with the same intensity he directed at the refs.

None of this changes the fact that Canzano lied that Sheed hurt Boom Boom by playfully throwing the ball the full court at him. Guys like you erupted at the time because you hated Sheed, and nowadays the falsely-embellished incident is recounted routinely. I was just thinking that similarly, false history may be remembered about how Felton is now supposedly rebelling against McMillan unless I inserted a post.

did last night's Felton comments on "Nate's trust" and his 0 pts, 5 TO's and 2 assists suggest the bus maybe should have termed been a tank?

Umm no, "guys like me" did not erupt about Sheed beaning Boom Boom. In fact, I don't remember ever posting anything about that incident (until now). Yes, it's further evidence about Sheed's immaturity. I also didn't make a big deal about him and Damon getting caught with pot in the yellow Hummer rolling down I-5. Again stupid and immature, but no big deal.

What I did, and do, make a big deal about is how Sheed's on-court behavior and uncontrollable temper hurt his team and cost them wins. He literally gave away hundreds of points due to technicals over the course of his career. And, he was ejected and suspened from dozens of games. That hurts his team and he deserves to be called on it. Do you disagree? Or, do you think it's acceptable to be in the lockerroom, or in street clothes when your team needs you on the court? Do you think it's acceptable to humilate a Hall of Fame teammate and destroy team chemistry on national TV? If you do, we're just going to have to agree to disagree, because I certainly don't think those things are acceptable for a PROFESSIONAL athlete.

So, please stop trying to rewrite history by making false claims about "guys like me".

I just remember that the Oregonian comments, and the ESPN board, erupted over that and every little thing Sheed did, like refusing to sign the little girl's autograph on the plane. I don't remember what you specifically said, but I know you were part of the majority crowd, and I was one of the few defending him. So I covered myself by saying "guys like you."

My point was and is that this tiny thing with Felton's innocent remark can easily be cited hundreds of times in the future as being some giant horrible event, since the same thing happened to Sheed. Once the majority turns against a player, every little thing gets magnified. The Boom Boom toss, the girl's autograph, were nothing, but the Boom Boom thing is still cited on this board about once a month as evidence of how bad he was.

Again, not me. The problems I had with Sheed were specifically related to his actions that hurt his team. I don't give a shit whose autograph he did or didn't sign. But when you get yourself tossed or suspended you hurt your team, and that I have a problem with.

All TV commentators and analysts always talk about how Nate is one of the best coaches in the league. Why is that?

I admit that I don't read every thread, but could you provide some links? I can't remember the last time Boom Boom getting hit in the boom booms was brought up.

Yeah, that suspension is a BAAAAAAAADDDD example of the absolute worst about what is WRONG with the Stern run NBA.

Sheed was threatening Tim Donoghy after Donoghy was clearly throwing a game.

It was obvious what was happening and Donoghy was a gigantic turdball in that game.

Fuck him. Fuck the NBA and their bullshit.

I was at that game, and came closer to throwing something at a ref than ever before or since. I almost wish Sheed had beat the shit out of Donoghy - because it might have caused a shitstorm that would have unconvered the corruption sooner - and possibly without the "handling" and "massaging" of the investigation that the NBA was able to manufacture after having had years to prepare themselves for the eventual reveal they knew about all along.

To get an average of one mention per month, I need to find 12 in the last year. The Search function, restricted to the last 12 months, produces dozens of results for Boom and 6 for Boumtje. I read only the Boumtje ones. This Boumtje thread has 5 posts mentioning Sheed hitting Boom Boom.

    http://sportstwo.com/threads/199288-Boom-Boom-Retires?highlight=Boumtje

Now all we need is 7 more mentions from the dozens of threads in the Boom thread. I'll, uh, read them someday when I have the time. In fact, you'd enjoy it, so I'll let you have the pleasure.

Yeah, it was mentioned in 5 posts, but none of them was critical of Wallace.

I didn't read them all, but read about 50-60 pages. Looking for something you know doesn't exist isn't really all that pleasurable. Saw one instance of PapaG criticizing Wallace. I did notice that Nicolokolus says 'boom' more than any other poster.

I have to say your claim was greatly overstated.

You don't see 5 posts in that one thread ridiculing Sheed over the incident?

When you search for Boom, you see 99 threads in the last 12 months, about half of which are on the Blazers board. You don't think there are 7 more posts in there on this topic?

This issue dwarfs the Felton-Crawford-Matthews quagmire and must be immediately solved. We should hire an impartial accounting firm to count the posts.
