    1. Review flops after each quarter. If someone has flopped, then they are thrown out of that game, as well as them and their coach being suspended for the next.

    2. Flagrant 2s would also come with a "power play" maybe 4 minutes? Also, instead of FTs, maybe a "power play" situation after 6-7 fouls in the quarter

    3. I would like to see the players use their freak athleticism more. Eliminate the 3 point line and widen the court

    4. Eliminate the offensive/defensive subs in the last 2 minutes of a game.

    5. Somehow get rid of guaranteed contracts.

    6. 2 year from graduating class restriction on entry, and create a full farm system.

    7. Show the lottery drawing live.

    8. Widen the lane.

    9. Adopt the goaltending rules they have in Europe.

    10. Award an assist when 2 FTs are made.

    -50 game season
-6 team playoff bracket like the NFL, with the top two records getting byes
    - Institute Challenge/Review system similar to NFL
    -End favortism to superstars
    -Contacts only 50% guaranteed
-Allow for continuation after defensive foul (too many times defenses gain an advantage by fouling)

Tickets cost too much due to scarcity. Therefore they should double the number of games to 164 per season. This will halve ticket prices. They could play doubleheaders like in baseball.

Two leagues. One plays in the winter and the other in the summer so I never have to be bored with baseball.

I would eliminate David Stern and big market bias.

The draft would go back to worst record, tank if you want, its only your fans base and pride that are hurt.

Players that demanded trades would have penalties enacted against them in some way.

Teams losing top players due to such demands would gain comp picks like in baseball at the end of the 1st round or possibly an automatic forfeiture of the receiving teams 1st round pick and it cant be included in any trade for player. It would be in addition to the trade.

Hard salary caps with non-guaranteed contracts. Don't play up to your contract, get cut just like the NFL.

If you do not have above a .500 record, you cannot qualify for the playoffs. If this is the case, a team from the other conference that has above a .500 record gets into the playoffs in the conference that vacated a spot. If no team meets qualification, byes will be given to seeds that would have been paired against playoff spot.

Independent officiating crews that are also monitored by an independent body with minimal tolerance for poor officiating. Goal is to end superstar favoritism and lower the impacts officials can have on the outcomes of games.

I could keep going on. The league would be exciting again.

A thorough review of decision-making is long overdue. At the end of CBA negotiations, the final agreement should be delayed subject to approval by NBA message boards.

In the All-Star Weekend festivities, there is voting in each event on 1) beforehand, which players will participate and 2) afterward, how each player rates (e.g. the dunk contest). Greater weight should be given to message boards. A fast online decision process can be developed so that we the posters can increase our influence in this league.

We need to become more visible at Board of Governors meetings. Whether owners vote to move the Nets, approve the CBA, or privatize Olympic basketball into an under-23 format, the voices of message boards everywhere must be heard and respected throughout this great country of ours, so that we Americans can reclaim our heritage.

Players may not emulate MJ by flicking their tongues too and fro.

All refs should be come from a foreign land that does not follow basketball like Burma and they should be forbidden from learning English.

If a flagerent foul is committed, the coach should be punished by being forced to eat only from the Safeway deli until the next game.

Instead of earning points from free throws, players should have to answer Jerpody questions.

    generous technical fouls for flops
    non guaranteed contracts
coaches challenge for time outs like the nfl
fire biased refs, review can be called for by coaching staff post game
ban jr. blazer dancers, nobody really needs to see pedo shows at halftime (i almost gagged when they did a routine to "make it clap")

    Like in hockey, create a penalty box for flagrant fouls - playing 4 on 5 for three minutes;

    Enforce goaltending -especially offensive goaltending;

    Enforce travelling;

Clear-path foul results in a penalty shot: one defender protects the goal, while the player fouled goes one-on-one (that might be kinda fun to watch!)

The problem is, not enough standardization. Referee personalities are too different from each other. Teams have dissimilar amounts of talent, so it's unfair how the better ones get to win. How can a coach be evaluated if he has less to work with than another one? Some teams have to travel a lot more than others. Some owners are cheap and some big spenders. Paul Allen should have been assigned a major market like Chicago.

Heights are so unevenly spread. All players 6-11 or more should have to play Center, all 6-9 to 6-10 PF, etc. All offenses should be similar to ease transferrence of players, coaches, announcers, and fans when they move. Coaches should be moved team to team every 6 months to spread the knowledge around. Stern hasn't addressed the issue of standardization. Stern's assistant should look like he did when he was young. Remember the old saying. Interchangeability is the key to versatility. Words to live by.

They already have that but some NBA fans just won't watch women.

That one I like. Boring as hell.

Also, like the idea which some have floated that the top 16 teams make the playoffs, rank them 1-16 for matchups. No more sub .500 teams getting in while 3 teams with better records in the other division are in the lotto.

Sorry, jlprk, your suggestions would end up with a game of robots, not humans!

My penalty for fighting is do what our near relations, bonobos, do. Bonobos are communal, and generally peaceful. But sometimes disputes break out, usually involving young males. The mature females, who are the leaders of the group, intervene and the disputants make up by stroking each other's penises. So if two NBA players get into a fight, the refs, preferably female refs, have them stand at center court and stroke each other's penises.

Can we at least get to the point where it's more about the fact that there are barely any dunks in the WNBA? I've watched some WNBA, and it's just more boring (versus soccer, where the women's product is generally superior because they aren't flopping and rolling around like spoiled toddlers trying to get more injury time added).

I would definitely watch if there were more drunks in the WNBA.

Edit: Sorry, I misread your post.

No, that's my point. Basketball is so much about athleticism, and once you're desensitized to it by seeing people jumping four feet in the air and sailing 12 feet forward to jam a ball through a 10' high hoop, the floor-bound small ball in the WNBA is frankly boring. When they get to the point where they dunk regularly, it will be interesting to me(n).

Women suck at basketball, they aren't even athletic at all compared to NBA players, it's boring as fuck. It's ridiculous to say they are even close to the same level.

FTFY. The women's game is probably 60 years behind the men's in terms of athleticism. We'll see them get much closer in our lifetimes, but it's a long process.

I think you're being overly generous to the ladies here. I was recently comparing men's Olympic results from the 30's with women's results from today in the same events, and there's still no comparison between the women and the men. Expecting the same level of athleticism without the same level of testosterone is not reasonable.

Men are athletically superior to women. That isn't really debatable. And it won't change in 1,000 years let alone 60.

I would suspend for one year any team who deliberately tanked a game and ban for life any coach who unnecessarily (not injured...) rested key players leading up to the playoffs.

I'd reverse the lottery system, include all teams in it, but give the most chances to the best records.

I'd abolish timeouts in the last 5 mjinutes of a game.

I'd require each team to have at least 2 active women players.

I'd extend the top of the three point line 4'.

I'd require all future NBA commissioners to be a minimum of 6' tall and be a former NBA player.

I totally dig all three of these, and heartily endorse them.
