I don't blame Dame. Stotts puts the ball in his hands and says "go get a bucket". He doesn't value ball movement. I think Dame, in an offense like Golden State's, would be great. He can move the ball and he's a great off-ball player and is great at attacking scrambling defenses and taking the right shot or making the right pass out of it.

Instead, he asked to constantly create against set defenses, either in ISO or pick n roll.

I would like to hear Vanterpools philosophy on what he would do different with this team. I would hope they consider him, but unless he has a real vision that is different, then I'd pass. Either way, I still want Olshey gone. If Vanterpool is hired and Olshey stays, then I'd be nervous.

I just wouldn't trust it. He might be good, but I'd rather have somebody proven to value ball movement on the college level.

We need ball movement and transition offense more than anything.

It would be like the Ducks hiring Cristobal and getting their ass kicked by Boise St.

If that happens I would like to see Lionel Hollins be head assistant.

The Train was one of my favorite Blazers ever. Loved him. As a 10 yo kid he was my favorite Blazer on that team that won it all.

I'd also bring in Kidd as an assistant.

We need more talent. We have one all-star, one streaky sg, and a big man who plays soft a lot. We vastly overachieved during the regular season.

Dame should have zero say in who the next coach is, it’s his job to play hard for whoever they bring in. It’s better when a coach doesn’t feel obligated to a PLAYER for being hired.

DV is a good guy (like Stotts) & will get an NBA HC gig soon - but hopefully not here.

We need to burn our X & O culture to the ground and start fresh, with new staff.

Sounds like a Blazer thing to do. Still hope it's not Olshey making that call

My first thought was there was plenty of talk about firing Stotts last year also? Didn't happen. Not sure it will happen this year either?
But if it does? I would prefer to hire from outside the circle for reasons already expressed in this thread. I would just like to see another style and offensive philosophy in general.
Messina would be my choice. Has been for a long time. Think i created a thread about it last year but that might have been on another forum that shall remain nameless....

I disagree with your Dame take because Dame was a fantastic passer who didn't get enough finishes off his passes this year. But I love that Brewer pic. I was a huge fan of him. He had that cool one handed runner on the baseline that was money. One of the Three Basketeers out of Arkansas. Moncrief had a more stellar career, but I always loved "Brew For Two".
