We had a border collie mix that jumped out of a moving Jeep to run after a cat. Scared the shit out of me. She was a crazy wild pup all her life, but at least she stopped jumping from moving vehicles after that incident.

She was a great little dog. We lived on a suburban street in the Bethany area - and her goal in life was to bark at every car that passed on the street from both sides of the house - so she ran at full speed back and forth to achieve that goal. Given that it was in Portland and the yard was usually damp - she basically made a path in the grass that got deeper and deeper. After 2 years, you would just see the tip of the tail moving back and forth there - and I had to refill it, put grass patches and the process restarted.

I still have a framed google maps shot of our neighborhood where you can see the semi-circle path she carved into the ground. That dog's work was seen from space.

In 1995 I had a mutt puppy, big girl, shepherd/malamute/chow/lab mix. When she was about 1 year old she jumped out of our car while pulling into the driveway and ran head first into the side of a parked panel van, denting it pretty badly. She did a couple quick circles and then jumped back in through our car window. We left immediately so we wouldnt have to fess up to the dented van.

That incident still brings me laughs, as well as shame (for not leaving a note).

Boy does that bring back memories. In our last house we had a big yard and a very high energy little smooth haired fox terrier. To burn off steam she would run a figure eight pattern from one corner of the back yard, up the side yard and then back to the corner, rinse and repeat until she could barely walk. I’d buy the patch kits at Home Depot and then stake and tape off the race track until it was “healed”. As soon as the grass took and the barriers were removed she’d start all over again. It really hung her up when we moved to a house with a tiny yard.......

I love how it starts out saying dogs are mans best friend and the first scene is a dog with a female. Lol

Which brings me to my galagher moment.

Why do they say woman comes from man when man comes from woman and male comes from female????
