My Sister-in-Law and her husband had to put their dog, Geoff, down today. A Bullie. Poor fella was less than four years old. Some kind of deep respiratory issue that the vets couldn't fix. Losing a dog can be excruciating. Been there, done that. It's been a terrible day for them both. I just got back from a long walk with them. Hopefully, I could help some. They're absolutely getting another dog. They can't see doing life without one. My wife and I can definitely relate.
Sorry to hear that. I love dogs but haven’t had one in many years. I don’t have the time needed to devote to a dog. Maybe when I retire?
My bro-in-law will be getting a new dog immediately. While still in a bit of grief, he's ready to move on. A dog is definitely in his future! What kind? Stay tuned.
When we had to put our Welsh Terrier down (at 9 am one morning) my wife had a new dog (Sheepadoodle) by 3:00 that afternoon. Pissed me of to the max (as in "Can This Marriage Be Saved level of pissed off) as I thought it was incredibly disrespectful to our boy (and me). It took me a few weeks to come around, but it in the end it was the right way to go. Had we waited we might not have even gotten another dog.....and we certainly wouldn't have ended up with the one we did. I needed a focus for my anger (over my dog dying) and the wife gave me one. And she got to channel her grief into bonding with a new puppy. And we ended up with one of the absolutely nicest, sweetest (but quirkiest) dogs we could have ever hoped for. I still miss my boy beyond words but I'm glad we climbed right back on board instead of waiting.
This was a terrible, terrible event.... https://www.usatoday.com/story/news...lized-after-tennessee-dog-mauling/8219201001/ Family dogs kill 2 Tennessee children, injure mom who tried to stop mauling, family says Two young children are dead and their mother suffered major injuries after two family dogs attacked a baby and toddler at their West Tennessee home. The mauling took place outside of the family's Memphis-area home on Thursday, the Shelby County Sheriff's Office reported. Kirstie Bennard, 30, suffered critical injuries when she tried to intervene in the attack on her 5-month-old boy, Hollace Dean, and 2-year-old girl, Lilly Jane, family and police said. "She put her body on top of Lilly’s to try and protect her after the attack started," Bennard's uncle by marriage, Jeff Gibson told USA TODAY on Saturday. "Both (dogs) started attacking her while she lay on Lilly." The two children were pronounced dead when officials arrived at the home, the sheriff's office reported. Their mother was taken to a local hospital in critical condition, officials said. Gibson said his nephew, Colby Bennard, was not home when the attack took place......
