    No, point was Dooling isn't going to start so Nets shouldn't throw him starter money. He would start on the Heat and on other teams so it wouldn't make sense for the Nets to outbid the teams that will be trying to pay him like a starter.     The Nets don't have starter money to throw at him, so I don't think that's an issue. Neither does Miami nor Orlando. $2-3mm per season is not starters money.

    I didn't say it was. That's why I said "other teams." Do you really think the Heat and the Nets are the only teams interested in the best combo guard on the market?

    My point was that you don't have to worry about the Nets overpaying and giving him starters money if they don't have the salary flexibility to do it.
