<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Laker_fan:</div><div class="quote_post">How can you say Kobe didn't try? He was following the game plan. I can guarentee that if it were up to Kobe, he would have taken almost every shot in the second half of game seven. It must have been hard trying to contain himself from letting the shots fly. For somebody like Kobe, it's harder not to shoot than it is to shoot.</div>

Kobe is always aggressive, regardless of what the game plan is, he always drives and dishes if he's supposed to pass. He rarely drove in the 2nd half. He kinda just stayed out on the perimeter and just passed around. He was extremely passive in the 2nd half. Saying that he didn't try wasn't a good thing to say, because we all know that he tries all the time. When Kobe drives, something good almost always happens, either a trip to the line, a dish to a big man for an easy bucket or a layup for Kobe. He just didn't do that in the 2nd half, IMO. He just gave up.

I kinda agree that Kobe gave up in the 2nd half. When he got 23 pts in the first half and the team was still 15 pts behind, he knew that the chance for his team to win was like zero. So what could he do? From all the stat in the regular season, he also knew that he couldn't get pass the Suns by just dominating the game by himself. He then could only trust what Phil Jackson said --> Stay with the game plan which was correct too. You need the whole team to score and defend if you wanna win against the Suns. However, his teammates just weren't doing anything well. Yea, he gave up....he gave up on dominating the game by himself. Do you want kobe to score 81 pts against the Suns to get the win? I am sure even Kobe got 60 pts, Sun could easily get their pts up to 130 which means still a loss for the Lakers. (haha, then all the haters will say Kobe is a ballhog)

But Kobe was trying...he was trying to get his teammates involved.

    <div class="quote_poster">Quoting durvasa:</div><div class="quote_post">"Young team" was wrong. I meant inexperienced team.

The Cavs had a rookie head coach, and they're most important player is in the playoffs for the first time. The Lakers have Phil and Kobe.

The only Cav with extensive playoff experience was Eric Snow. And he's not expected to do a whole lot.</div>

Ah but, this is where another double standard comes in. LeBron James makes his teammates much better because he trusts them. When the Cavs lose, the headline reads, LeBron needs help. Kobe Bryant is always portrayed as someone who plays only for himself and doesn't trust his teammates and is uncoachable. When the Lakers lose, the headline reads, the Kobe's lose despite is 50 points.

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">I understand that, but it's just the way that Game 6 and Game 7 went. If Kobe passed more in Game 6, I believe they woulld have won, in Game 7 Kobe had to take over to give them any shot at winning the game.

Actually, if Kwame didn't bite on that pump fake at the end of regulation, Thomas would've never hit that shot. Then there wouldn't have been a game seven.

Actually maybe if they kept giving Kwame the ball, he would have had enough confidence to not bite on the pump fake. He was 8-9 from the floor that game, I don't understand why you don't continue to pound it against the Suns, where their center is like a good 40 lbs lighter and a few inches shorter.

When he's on a roll like that you gotta give him at least 15-20 shots.

This was the first thought that entered my mind while watching the end of Pistons/Cavs Game 7. Great article Ric.
