I read that he's ready to throw batting practice. That's all I found on him.

The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees destroyed the Buffalo Bisons and won by a score of 9-1. Starting for Scranton was Kei Igawa and he pitched a great game pitching 6 scoreless innings giving up 4 hits for the win. The problem with Igawa is that he’ll get called up again and get rocked in the majors. Replacing Igawa to start the 7th inning was Zachary Kroenke and he gave up 1 earned run on 3 hits in 2 innings. Scott Strickland pitched a perfect 9th inning.

The hitting stars of the game for Scranton worth mentioning were center fielder Melky Cabrera, right fielder Matt Carson, DH Shelley Duncan and short stop Nick Green. Cabrera went 1 for 4 with 2 runs scored. Carson went 2 for 5 with 3 runs scored. Duncan went 1 for 3 with 3 runs scored and 2 rbi’s along with a home run and Green went 2 for 4 with 2 rbi’s.

    Good Night For Hughes

Pretty good night for Phil Hughes. He only gave up 2 earned runs on 6 hits in 6.1 innings for the win. That’s not a great game but it’s better than what he has been pitching. I bet he feels pretty good right about now. Justin Christian went 2 for 5 with a 1 run scored and Melky Cabrera went 1 for 4 with 1 rbi. My favorite farm hand Eric Hacker came out of the game early for Trenton. He gave up 2 earned runs on 3 innings. First round pick in 2007 Humberto Sanchez gave up 2 earned runs on 3 hits in only 2 innings for Tampa. He’s still just rehabbing though.

How's Juan Miranda doing? Could you be called up in September? I'd love to see him take some ABs from Giambi, so we can see how he'll do against major league pitching.

Miranda is doing very well. He could be called up right now and take at bats away from Giambi but if the Yanks go after Tex, which I have a feeling they won't, but if they do, he might get traded.

At worst, Miranda is trade bait. At best, we get a viable alternative to Giambi, and don't risk a long term contract on Tex. We could potentially shave off, I keep thinking 86million off the top of my head. Resign moose for 20mil/2, and give CC 6 years, 120mil.

Ian Kennedy and Phil Hughes will both get called up again because they both pitched very well in their last outings and with the Yankees about to be eliminated mentally from the playoff race, the Yankee brass might want to see what they have for next year.

Yeah, I hope they remove Dassel Rassel and Ponson from the Rotation and give the kids a chance. It'd be awesome seeing Hughes start Sunday (I'm going that game :ghoti:. Last game at the stadium :( ), and watch Phil get the win, Joba get the Hold, and Mo get the save.

Will Melcancon get called up? Miranda? Who was called up today, I missed the game.

    Minor League Playoff Report 9/03/08

The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees beat a Pawtucket Red Sox team in the first game of the playoffs. Just beating a Red Sox team in the playoffs is pretty cool. Justin Christian really showed up. He went 2 for 3 with 2 runs scored and 2 rbi’s along with a home run. Now that’s clutch. I hope the Yankees bring him up again. He’s so fast that he makes the opposing pitcher miserable. He had a stolen base tonight as well. Chase Wright pitched well. I’d like to see a Scranton/Wilkes Barres game especially since they are in the next state over from me.

Hacker. Come on now. I was singing his praises all year. What amazes me is that no one brings his name up when it comes to “Who can help the Yankee pro club” in the future. Trenton must have a lot of confidence in him to let him start the first game of the series against another Red Sox affiliate. They must think highly of him. Hacker gave up 1 earned run in 5.2 innings. You can’t be surprised that the game was low scoring because these are the best of the best of the minor leagues at the highest level and a lot of players are almost pro ready. Oh yeah, Trenton won, 2-1.

    Minor League Playoff Reports 9/04/08

Scranton/Wilkes Barre Yankees lost to the Pawtucket Red Sox by a score of 3-1. It was a well pitched battle. Ian Kennedy started and gave up 2 earned runs in 7 innings for the loss. That’s a good performance but we all know that he can’t pitch at the pro level. I don’t know if the Yankees should waste their time with him. He’ll come up to the pro level and get rocked like he has been doing all year. Since the Yankees aren’t really in the playoff race, they should let Kennedy start just to see if he has anything left. Justin Christian, Melky Cabrera and Juan Miranda all went 0 for 4. Series is tied 1-1.

The Trenton Thunder won a low scoring game over the Portland Sea Dogs by a score of 4-3. The Thunder dropped some thunder on Clay Buchholz, the failed Boston Red Sox pitcher and scored 3 earned runs off of him. The best thing about it is that super prospect Austin Jackson hit a 3 run bomb off of him. Catcher P. J. Pilittere was the hero however with his rbi single in the bottom of the 8th that drove in Chris Malec. P.J. Pilittere is supposed to be the Anti – A-Rod because he comes through in the clutch a lot. I’m surprised Trenton gave Jeffrey Marquez the start considering he only had 3 starts in Trenton. Trenton leads the series 2-0.

Staten Island clinched a playoff berth with their win on Thursday.

"the failed Boston Red Sox pitcher"

Harsh? I still believe he'll be a top pitcher.
