    VITALS: 6-10, 242, Braunschweig (Germany)

OVERVIEW: Szewczyk is an early entry candidate from Poland who has spent last season in the top division of the German league with Braunschweig. Szewczyk averaged 12.3 points and 6.3 rebounds and registered 29 blocks last season. A member of the Polish national team, Szewczyk spent the previous two years with Szczecin in his native country and averaged 13.6 points and 6.3 rebounds. Szewczyk is a decent free-throw shooter, connecting on 75 percent of his attempts in his career. The 20-year-old Szewczyk's father, Miroslav, played pro basketball for more than 20 years in Poland.

LIKELY DRAFT POSITION: Second round. Memphis (27) could pull a rabbit out of a hat and select Szewczyk in the first round, as could San Antonio (28), the LA Lakers (24) and Dallas (29).

COMPARATIVE UPSIDE: Terry Mills, Danny Schayes

COMPARATIVE DOWNSIDE: Todd Fuller, Loren Meyer

    ROLE PROJECTION: Reserve.

POSITIVES: Szewczyk is a better shooter than most of the guards in this draft, even the "fundamentally sound" ones from Europe. He loves to knock down perimeter jumpers and can easily get looks over the top of the defense with his 6-10 frame. Additionally, Szewczyk is a solid low post scorer and has filled out his body over the last few years.

SHORTCOMINGS: Szewczyk is not a hard-nosed interior player. He is a mediocre rebounder and shot-blocker and prefers to be a face-up scorer. Furthermore, Szewczyk lacks the quickness to create his own shot off the dribble from the perimeter in the NBA. Being tall and able to shoot will only get you so far at the next level.

WHAT THEY'RE SAYING: "He's big and will throw people around. He also has a nice face-up game and can score inside or out." - NBA draft guide contributing writer Jed Tai
